Nurses Day in May..

Published

Every week a letter goes out about things happening at the school. The letter this week documented some things happening in April & May such as, " Teachers Week". A huge list of things we could do to show appreciation for the teachers. was attached. My health clinic is never mentioned in the news letter nor was "Nurses Day". Am I being over sensitive today; I have a whole list of things I like too (insert child like laughter)?

I went and hugged my Librarian. He didn't even know it was Librarian Day.

He still took the hug, though.

I would have too.

And it's PINK!

Last year my principal (who's mom is a nurse) actually said to me "It's nurse's week! I sent my mom flowers!" and still never said a word about it to me.

Ouch! That is worse than just ignoring it all together.

My school building is kind enough to send me flowers and some teachers will have their students right me a card. Most of them are nice but I had some that made me cry from laughter. I had a kid write me, "Thank you for helping me when I had ringworm." Apparently when she was writing this in class she raised her hand and asked teacher how to spell 'ringworm' and all the kids in class went EEEEWWWWW.

I would have too.

I go back and forth about this. On the one hand, it's nice to be remembered. On the other, it can be a little patronizing for a professional to have a "day."

Not sure how it is patronizing?

I'm not sure the best way to explain. Maybe the fact that there is no "CPA, Attorney, Engineer, (fill in the blank) day" for other professions.

Again, I'm conflicted on it; pretty much depends on my mood.

But, they do have appreciation days!

That's because if we didn't TELL people to love lawyers, they wouldn't.

Oh, Lordie. Now I've seen everything. (Do lawyers like coffee mugs, too?)

Last year I got a card from the school on administrative assistant's day:sarcastic:. The nurse mom of one of my favorite little ones sent me new RN pens and a notebook that I'm still using on Nurse's Day last year.
