Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.
Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....
I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future.
]Kaliee, Good luck at CMC you are in an area were it is not to bad it all goes down hill in pt care p they leave the units, sad to say. My father-in-law got very poor care on the regular floor I had to help him to the bathroom and clean up because no one came to help, no aide or nurse. Helped him put on fresh gown c an IV because mother-in-law didn't know how then ambulated him in the hall to the nsg station and the response from the staff was" good job, you are in the hall, glad your up well :angryfire s*** hit the fan when I let them know I was a RN. Long story short administration got involved. Good luck once again and stay in the unit don't get pulled if you can help it.

Hi!
I'm a new graduate RN from NYC and will be moving to NC next year...March the latest. I can't wait to enjoy the milder weather and the hospitals there look amazing. I'll be living in Pinehurst and plan to apply at Moore Regional Hospital.
Thank you and looking forward to joining your team very soon
Hi, where in NYC are you working? I am in school in NYC, but am from NC and plan to return to NC after I graduate. Why are you planning on moving to NC? Best of Luck!

Anyone have any info on Lenoir hospital in Kinston? I lived in Hendersonville for 11 years, worked in Asheville and in Columbus NC. I could not afford Asheville but found a great house in country in H-ville. We moved to Charleston, SC, after all the kids graduated, and boy has that been a mistake! Great place to visit, rotten place to live (unless you are a gazillionaire and live on the beach). Anyway, I am beginning to travel and am going to Kinston on assignment. Anyone familiar with this hospital? I have been RN since 1992, mostly OR, some MedSurg, tele, etc. This job is in the OR.
I miss my Mountains!
Hey, sorry for the slow response. I'm at Columbia here in NYC. I can't wait to get back to NC. I'm from Greensboro. NYC is fine, but it's just a different way of life that takes some getting used to.
I currently am still working as a physical therapist assistant at a nursing home on the upper east side. I went to school at BMCC, where are you studying and that part of NC are you from?
Hey, good luck! I took A& P I and II there as well as Bio. 111. Tough classes, but really interesting. Learn as much as your brain can hold!
Hi, I'm new here to this site. I am a pre-nursing student at GTCC. I've lived in NC almost all my life, and I absolutely love it here. I am currently taking A&P I, so far so good!

Thanks for all the advice for NC. I was a traveler years ago and ended up staying 15 years at the last hospital in which I traveled in Maryland. Trying it once more, going to be at Carolinas Medical Center, in the ICU's (Charlotte). I'm so hoping it goes well...but always keep an open mind, look, listen and learn their ways. How many of you do the tax advantage? Does it work for you? How do you balance having a primary residence and being away traveling?
