I currently am still working as a physical therapist assistant at a nursing home on the upper east side. I went to school at BMCC, where are you studying and that part of NC are you from?

Hi! I'm a new graduate RN from NYC and will be moving to NC next year...March the latest. I can't wait to enjoy the milder weather and the hospitals there look amazing. Hi Emily I'm also in NY (Queens) and am planning to move to NC in March 2008. I am going to live in Pinehurst and am keeping an eye on the moore regional hospital since I'll be about 1 hour away from raleigh but I've heard great things about Duke and Wakemed which are close to where you're going to live. Where in NY do you live? I'd love to keep in touch and maybe we can help each other out as we go along. Have you gotten your license by endorsement yet? Alexandra

PTs have PTAs (physical therapy assistants) and PT aides that can work along with them. I'm a PTA for 7 years and just finished nursing school. If you really like PT, then I recommend that you get a degree in the field. To become a physical therapy assistant you need an associate degree and pass the licensing national exam, just like an RN needs to pass the NCLEX. The salary of a PTA in New York starts at around 45k but if you work per-diem, the average salary is $35/hour. If you really prefer it to nursing, go for it.
