Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.
Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....
I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future.
Hi! I'm Robin from Asheville. I've been a nurse for a year and work in medical cardiology step-down. This is my second career (third, if you count the 7 years I stayed home with my three kids!).
I absolutely love cardiac nursing and feel fortunate that I found what I love to do right out of nursing school.
We moved here in 1998 when my husband got out of the army. He is now a firefighter in Asheville and after traveling all over the world, we are here to stay.

Hello everyone, I am Stephanie and I live in Charlotte. I am a happy mom of three wonderful boys.
I just graduated from the LPN program on Aug 1 (2 days ago), and have started the process of applying for licensure. I am glad to be part of this forum. Any tips on NCLEX and being a successful LPN will be helpful.
Thanks

Hello All!
I live in Sylva, NC and work at Haywood Regional Medical Center in Waynesville. I have been working there fresh out of nursing school since October 2006 in the OR and loving it. I will be trying to get my foot back in nursing school for classes towards my BSN this Fall but I will be taking it in S---L---O---W-----M---O--T--I--O--N this time.
Good luck to all who are going through nursing school and about to take NCLEX exams! May the force be with you!
hi! i'm kim and i live in wakefield (north raleigh) and commute to duke to work. i'm about to go out on maternity leave. i presently work in the birthing center but when i come back from maternity leave, i hope to be in the pacu working day/evening shift as opposed to night shift. i have a wonderful boyfriend and dog named mocha that i adore spending time with on my days off. i like to shop, sing in the car, listen to music, hang out at starbucks, crochet baby hats for the nursery, and travel. i went to school at western carolina university and am just here to say hi!
Praise,
I was happy to read your post! I'm at Duke now, full time, live out in Wakefield, familiar with Stem, Stovall, etc..heeehhee. I'm about to go out on maternity leave and when I come back, will be transferring to a different unit. I'm a firm believer in only working somewhere you are happy. I'm glad you found jobs that are flexible and allow you to spend time with the fam. Having a little boy on the way has definitely taught me a lot about my priorities.
Best of luck!!

Kimmie,
Hi! I'm glad you've found this site! It's awesome isn't it? Anyway, I'm glad you are re-prioritizing and are making plans to do what makes you happy. You are not alone in that pursuit. :-) I respect you, your plans and your privacy. What I read here stays here. :-) Good luck to you and yours. Your BF seemed awefully nice and cool. :-)

Hello Everyone,
I am a new graduate RN. I live in the beautiful foothills of NC. I have lived here all my life and desire to live NOWHERE ELSE. I attended nursing school with my daughter-inlaw (we are a close family). We both took our NCLEX the same day and both of us passed (yeah). We are going to work at the same hospital. I am going on the telemetry floor and she will be on the ortho floor. I have worked at this hospital before as a surgical tech, so I know alot of the people already and they are like family. I am anxious to get started but also nervous because of the acuity levels on tele floors. I start Monday, so keep my in your thoughts.
