North Carolina Roll Call

Published

Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.

Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....

I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future. :coollook:

Specializes in ICU, SDU, OR, RR, Ortho, Hospice RN.
New RN here in Winston Salem. Grew up in Asheville, grad from Ashville High School '93, then off to the Army, came back went to NCSU for BS then UNC-CH for BSN. Just graduated in May 07 and passed boards. Will start at Wake Forest U/Baptist Med Center in the MICU.

Well you are not that far from where I live really.. Only approx 45mins with a push (and no blue flashing lights LOL)

Best wishes for your new position and CONGRATULATIONS in passing the boards.. :monkeydance:

Hello all...

I am a first year nursing student from the great ol' Person County. I'm praying that I get the chance to attend Watts this Spring (2008). Any advice??

What about Piedmont community college ADN in Roxboro, NC? Is best to apply to more than one nursing school especially if close within traveling distance. This will increase your changes of getting accepted into another if turned down.

Just a thought,

Just found the site and am very excited about exchanging questions and answers with others. I live in a very small town outside of Charlotte called Dallas, NC. I have been a nurse (RN) for 12 years now and love it. I have worked in various fields. but am currently working in home health doing private duty nursing for trach and vent patients. I have to say that I feel like I am actually doing more nursing now than ever. I get to spend all the time I need with my patients and still have time for all the charting and other paperwork. I am going to start this fall working on my BSN and am excited about that. Anyone have any recommedations for colleges in Charlotte for my BSN? Glad to meet everyone...:smilecoffeecup:

Hi Private Duty

You are probably only 2 hours from where we live. ( I think LOL ) We are in Mt Airy NC. I have not heard of Dallas NC.. How far from Charlotte?

Nice to meet you. :)

Thanks Sabby...I am about 20 minutes down S 85 from Charlotte. I know exactly where Mt. Airy is...(Mayberry, right?) Glad to meet you!

Hope your day is wonderful.

Hi, I'm Heather and I'm currently a Surgical Technology student at Guilford Technical Community College, near Greensboro. I'm not technically a nursing student, but A) I will be working right alongside circulating nurses and CNRAs in the OR, and B) after I've got some experience under my belt I think I may choose to further my education in nursing school.

I have already been posting and reading for a few months on the boards, but this I thought it would be nice to meet some folks from around here.

Has anyone here taken A&P or Microbiology at GTCC? If you have, please send me a PM, as I have a few questions. Thanks, and nice to meet y'all!

Hello Kim,

Family lives in Asheboro. Quiet, pretty town. Do you work at the hospital or a LTC facility there? Have a blessed day.

Hi all! I just graduated from a 2 year program in Hendersonville and am still working at a tiny hospital there until I take my boards in August. H'ville is home for me but I moved to Landrum (in SC, right on the border with NC) a few months ago and have a job lined up in Spartanburg, SC after I get my RN.
