North Carolina Roll Call

Published

Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.

Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....

I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future. :coollook:

Hi Kim --

was just in your neck of the woods this past weekend....went to the zoo. Boy was it hot hot hot!!

Congrats and good luck to you!!

Specializes in NICU.

Hey Ya'll,

I'm Angie in Greenville, NC I work in NICU at PCMH. LOVE IT!!! Been here for 2 yrs. However, I want an adventure so I'm going to do some traveling for a while. I am gonna miss this place; it's an awesome facility (the new NICU is like 2 yrs old) It's the only one I've ever seen so I fear there will be an environmental shock when I get to my first assignment, but hey....wouldn't be an adventure if everything was the same. I will be coming back though!!

Just a note to say Hi as I am new on the block. I am starting my second year in the ADN program at CVCC in Hickory, NC and I LOVE IT. I have my bachelors in Animal Science from NC State (1998), but through some unfortunate family events, found nursing to be my passion. I am so excited! Looking forward to being a member on this site.

Hi All. I'm a non-traditional student (a young 63 yrs. old) that just finished my LPN program and my exhausted but totally relieved. I must say that I'm also very proud since only 45% of my original class made it to graduation; Not bad for a high school dropout.

The problem that I'm having is my house is a mess and I need to begin to study for the NCLEX but just don't have any energy. The only thing I've accomplished since last week is to go buy myself a big screen television and go out to eat with friends. :yeah: My determination was to clean one room a day and haven't even been able to even accomplish that. Is this normal? I know I need a break but I refuse to begin studying for the NCLEX until I clean this house. I:angryfire How long did most of you wait before beginning to study for the NCLEX?

I started studying for the NCLEX basically when I started school. Bought Saunders and used it all through school and as my only study guide. I studied about 2 weeks, covering each section of the book and the test at the end, took the NCLEX and passed the first attempt. Now this week, I am house cleaning, the deep cleaning, take furniture out of the room kind. This hasn't been done in 3 years. Did I care_NO_ my priority was finish nursing school and take the NCLEX, first and that is just what I did. Step high over any laundry, papers and animals, and continue studying while the material is still fresh on your mind. Good luck!!!!

I've order the Saunders book and it should be here this week hopefully. I appreciate your post because I can just concentrate on surface cleaning first. There is no way I can concentrate in all of this confusion.
