No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!

Published

no job yet= lose weight time

okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..

started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.

then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.

i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.

this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...

i'll go first...

i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.

i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:

Thank me too....Well 3 is better than none, next week is a new week and will hold new oppurtunities for you.

Today I signed up for a Womens league for field hockey, you are put on a steady team and play as you would normally would for the fall season against a different team each week and thy keep records of who's winning and losing, so should be fun. I def miss field hockey since I graduated college so should be fun and a good workout too.

Hey guys! Better late than never, I guess... I just ran across this thread tonight, and I am SO glad. I'm not a new nurse, I have been nsg 19 years and had to retire 2 yrs ago r/t some serious cardiac surgeries. Before I quit working, I didn't really have a problem with my weight, because in the ER, we always stayed busy.

So, now I've been a stay at home mom for almost 3 yrs and my activity level has decreaed so much, it seems like no matter what I eat I gain more and more.

I started taking Alli diet pills, and they work ok. I started at 160lbs and right now I'm at 154. I would like to get down to 140. I hope that isn't too unrealistic!

I'm a total goofball! I just realized I forgot to count the last two days of Aug. I was only counting from Sept. 1st. So actually, I got in five days of exercise this week :) And oh yeah I forgot to say that yesterday I did these floor exercises so today I am pretty sore, but NOT so sore I couldn't have walked or ridden my bike, but did enjoy my relaxing day at the lake :) I am editing this to say welcome new member to this thread. Before I lost, I topped out at 179, which was a lot of weight for my frame! So yes, it is possible to do it!

HAHA.....good job girlfriend...see now you can be proud of yourself...KEEP IT UP!

Hello all! well i have been really bad with my week's workout...only did one day!!!! however, i do have good news that will make up for my poor workouts...i now have a job!!!!!!! I had my interview on thursday and on friday i was offered a position in a pediatrics unit! I am so excited! It will definately be harder to keep up with my workouts but I am going to make it mandatory that i atleast get in three days a week...

K morris, i am sorry to hear about your interview, keep your head up and dont give up and you will see before you know it, the perfect opportunity will come up! Your weight loss has been amazing! You are three pounds away from loosing a grand total of TWENTY lbs!!!!!! be very proud of yourself...

Good luck to the rest!

Congratulations on your job!!!!!!!!!.......that is awesome, and I am so proud of you. And thank you I am proud of my weight loss and am trying to focus on that instead of the job market. I will find something eventually you are right. I am still so happy for you for though, where do you live? And how did you get that job, just online submission then call back. I am curious, I am trying to get some tips haha...Let me know how you like it???

I live in southern Arizona, I just applied online to the hospital website, and they gave me a call back for an interview! Our hospital is pretty good with hirnig new grads, they have this partnership or something like that with our school, there was not any job oppenings for a while just ER (which i was not interested in) and finally when i saw the peds posting i applied immediately, i however thought they wanted some type of experience, but to my surprise they were fine with no experience at all! I will work night shifts, I will let you know know how it goes, thanks!

Are they asking for experience in the area where you live? or are there no jobs at all??

cspink, congratulations on your new job! Yes, try to get a minimum of three days in if you can. I started off this week good, though the mosquitos almost carried me away on my walk this eve. Filthy little devils, I think they liked my shampoo. Good news is I probably burned off extra calories swatting them off :) So, my sticker is up on my calendar, and we're off! Everybody have a good week.

blindsided, you seem very on track w/your weight loss, if you dont mind sharing, what has been your total weight loss since you started your workouts?? i'm sure you have lost alot, you seem so dedicated, good for you!

Yeah in my area it is sooo tight. New Jersey is impossible and I live about 5 minutes outside philadelphia which is also impossible. It has to turn around eventually and one of the nurse recruiters told me to call her back personally on Sept 25th so I will be doing that, we shall see what happens with that. But most places around here want you to have experience for peds or maternity which is where my heart truly is, but I will take what I can get and handle of course. GOODLUCK...def tell us how it works out.

Blindsided- good job with your workouts keep it up!!.....you are very inspirational and I know you will reach your goals as well.

How are you doing with working out and life cspink? Hope you are doing well.

LETS DO THIS TEAM i am so excitied about our progress and committment

hey everyone...i just came across this thread and am going to use it to post my own weight loss journey!!! congratulations to everyone on here...i really enjoyed reading all the posts! you guys have really come a long way! hopefully i will be able to look back in a couple of months and see my own progress.

anyway...two years ago i weighed 190lbs...i lost 60 in one year...actually 62...i did get down to 128 and it was so exciting!! i have always been chubby and didn't think i was ever meant to be skinny. however...even being at 128 i didn't feel skinny. i felt like a fraud...like a fat person pretending to be skinny!

now that i've gained back 17-20 lbs i realise it was real! those tags on my clothes that said size 5...really were size 5. i used to think that they were just a bigger style or something! the worst was when i did start gaining and i would complain to my friends and they'd say..."it dosen't look like you've gained weight" i know they were just trying to be nice but i finally said to them that it was insulting. i found it insulting because if i don't look any different at 145 what is the point of being 130? so i was still 'fat' at 130!!! anyway...aside from the way i looked 20lbs ago...i miss the way i felt! i felt strong and healthy and i want to feel that way again!!! tuesday i am going to weigh myself and post it on here and i will do weekly weigh ins as well. i am going to be accountable and i am going to get healthy again!!

thanks everyone....chat soon!!!:pumpiron:

Congrats on your previous weight loss that is amazing that you accomplished that and I know you can accomplish anything you want to again. And of course we will be here for you, feel free to post as much as you want and I hope to learn from you too and see what I can take to be just as successful. I am glad you decided to take this journey with us and I try to post as much as possible to keep myself accountable as well. I will not stop until I lose all the weight I want to lose and you know what I was thinking the same thing recently, once I get there will I be magically happy with myself? I have a feeling I will always be upset about my weight and I am guessing this is normal for many women, but we shall see I am halfway to my ulimate goal of 124.

WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
