No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Yeah busy with Christmas is right! I have had my christmas shopping done for a while now but for some reason I have been feeling really stressed maybe its just that season and my body thinks I should be haha I don't know. Today I burned 1019 calories!! I didn't mean to at all but I went for a 60 minute run and then did a interval class and it sorta just happened, but I know I can't do that everyday, but I have been in a slump recently with the 24 inches of snow we got on Friday. I have not been able to run since Thursday and I feel so gross because of it so I fell into eating some chips and cookies haha,....but I am back on track now and will be writting more after the new year. There is one more stretch until the holiday season is over and then I feel it will be easier for all of us to reach our goals without delays. I am so happy to hear you are still enjoying your bike and pushing the intensity, goodjob!!! You are a exercise machine!!! I am very proud of you and look up to you a lot keep up th good work!

No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Hey everyone, It is so nice to see many people active in their lives and on this thread, it is really motivating to see. And everyone seems to have different but amazing plans for how to lose weight and become more healthy. I did the abduction and adduction machine yesterday, I love them too! So far my marathon training is going well, I still have 9 months to train, but I will be doing a lot of races and training in between to keep it exciting. I am doing a 3 mile race Sunday and sometimes after that will probably do a 5, 10 and 13 (half marathon) race, and a few 20 mile runs (I am not looking forward to that, but hopefully I will be by the time it comes) before my actual big 26.2 miles haha. Today I ran 51 minutes and Sunday I ran 70 mins!!!...It feels so great and my grandpop is so excitied that he is training me that he can not even sleep some nights, and I definitely don't want to dissapoint him or myself so on with this training I will go. I only run every other day, and do weight stuff, abdominals, or rest on the in between days. but enough marathon talk, that is still 9 months away... LunahRN- I still think belly dancing sounds so fun and like such an amazing workout. I really want to work on my belly. And the treadmill gift sounds awesome, if I had one in my house I would probably use it all the time, but not sure I would ever feel like running outside either haha...When you feel comfortable venturing onto the hills make sure you do run outside some days its so nice and different and a good change up, but winter is just about here and I am jealous of your treadmill haha...Keep up the good work you seem to active and so ready to lose this weight and get healthier!!! Go go girl! Treelover- You inspire me as well, I can feel how bad you want this and how hard you are willing to work towards it. Your plan seems perfect for you right now and the sticker system is an awesome idea I always have lover and I know blindsided has seen real success with it. Don't worry about whatever weight you may have picked up recently right now you are moving towards the right direction of healthier and in the end it won't matter where you started just where you are!...Remember it is a journey and you have to enjoy the journey along the way!...not just the start and finish! You have the right attitude and plan to really do this, KEEP IT UP and keep us updated I can't wait to hear about your success. Blindsided- As always I love your enthusiasm and dedication, I really want to be like you! I want to be able to be as motivated as you are for as long as you have been. Thank you for always being here for me even though sometimes I am Missing, it means a lot to me, you are awesome! You keep riding the bike strong and I am so proud of you and you are completely right with the moderation, no way can we deprive ourselves every second of this journey, we need that cookie or chip once in a while, but just in moderation and once in a while. Keep it up!!!! You must have killer legs from all that biking!!!! It is true we all have different goals, and our at different part of our journeys but we are all on the same journey of finding a more healthy version of ourselves and I know we can support eachother along the way no problem. Let's keep eachother posted when we have time!!!! GOODLUCK ALL, CANT WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT ALL OF YOUR SUCCESSES!!!!

No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Hey it is so nice to see so many new members here and active!!! :grpwlcm: Sorry I have been missing I was substituting as a school nurse and have been training harder recently. I don't think I mentioned it here yet, but I have started training for a MARATHON!!! yes all 26.2 miles of it. I thought it would be an amazing workout plus such a good new goal for me to works towards. the numbers of losing weight wasn't a good enough goal to keep me going strong. I needed something new and exciting and this is it. On Thursday I began and ran 40 minutes and today I ran 50 minutes!..It felt great, I felt like I could have ran longer but that is not what my trainer suggest. You want to know ho my trainer is, MY GRANDPOP, he has run over 30 marathons plus teh Boston Marathon plently of times. He can't run too much anymore because of a recent hip replacement but he really wants to train me and I think it would be awesome for us to do together and something awesome for us to experience together as well. I will be training for the next 6 months!!..In december my grandpop's plan is to run at least 4 days a week at 3-5 miles and maybe a 6 mile run on Saturdays or Sundays. Of course it will get longer and harder, but this is a base month. Anyway I have been counting my calories perfectly and am really exciting about my hopefully (fingers crossed) progress. I will call my Homehealth care job on Monday and hopefully I can start training, and I did substitute nurse the other day, it was so cute and fun! I love kids so much. I too will be looking for another job as I work this home healthcare job, but for right now it will work. I just recently had to drop 860 dollars on fixing my car, so lucky I was done christmas shopping, but I have to put a hold on the iphone i was going to buy myself as a reward and a lot of other stuff, but its okay stuff happens in life and you just need to do what you need to do. As for everyone here, YOU CAN DEFINITELY LOSE THE WEIGHT AND GET MORE FIT!!!....Blindsided!!!!! You may not realize it but you really inspire me and make me want to be better, knowing that you are putting 100% in make me want to do the same! Keep up the awesome work and workouts!!!! SOrry so long but had a lot to catch up on and sometimes once you start typing it is hard to stop thinking of something you want to say!

No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Yeah that would be awesome to have you on our team and support group it really is great to just be able to vent, post and motivate. Welcome and you can do this, goodluck! we are here for you! My thanksgiving was alright!!! Congrats on your exercise you got in and the no pumpkin pie!! That is truly awesome, I didn't do too much exercise extra about 3 days last week but all of those days I burned a lot mroe calories than normal to prevent from too much gain from the holidays, and I only gained a pound and a half and I will lose it again fast so no worries here!!...Holidays are hard but I will get through it and be completely fine by summer when it counts more haha...I am sorry I haven't posted in a while I got a job finally and although I can't keep it forever because I get no benefits, it works for now. It is a homehealth care agency that provides care to babies and kids which is right upp my alley so I am excitied about it, plus they are expecting and helpimg me to find other stuff because they are understanding of what new grads are going through and really want to help, I can work as many or as few as hours as I want and I am grateful for it at this time! So that being said I have been trying to figure out the whole hiring process with them along with finding a doctor that accepts my new personal crappy insurance has been hard but finally did it. Hope we all have amazing weeks!!! IT IS WHAT WE MAKE IT!!!

New grads working in settings OTHER than hospitals/LTC/Rehab?
I just got offered a job as a new graduate in Home Healthcare for pediatric patients from infants- adolescents, I have not started yet as I just found out I got the position, but they were surprisingly willing to train new graduates who were willing to learn, it seems like a good oppurtunity, and my dads knows someone who knows someone that owns it and its respectable, so I will let you know how it goes. I also work as a substitute nurse in a school district, it is a lot of fun and I love kids!

STILL don't have a job?? Vent here!
WOW....I think I am so used to be dissapointed and unemployeed that I can't even comprehend that I now have a job. Many jobs now actually. I just got a Home healthcare offer working with babies and pediatrics...which is exactly what I want to do, be a pediatric nurse!!!...I can't believe it I just got a nuring job that is exactly what I want. I also am a substitute nurse/teacher at elementries and high schools, and work at a gym as a nurse, its so funny how you can go from having nothing to too much, it is crazy and I am so excitied, but still worry for all the other new grads, I hope things change around soon. Goodluck, anyone live in South Jersey and want to look into the home healtcare with pediatrics, PM me and I will give you some information if you are serious about it. GOODLUCK ALL

STILL don't have a job?? Vent here!
Got the e-mail sorry wasn't selected for an interview. I just don't get it anymore. I sent my application first class, very neat, personal note (short) and I feel like I am a worthy candidate. I have a good GPA, nurse extern experience, cna experience, volunteer field hockey coach for high school (fall season), School nurse experience, and a gym job nurse experience, played field hockey and was captain in college, and I just feel all of that doesn't even matter right now. I know I would make an amazing nurse, and yet on paper we all look the same, who is getting hired anyway, if we are all in this same annoying situation. I am just getting very frustrated, I have a part-time job right now at a gym as a RN doing health assessments and giving advice about how to lose weight and I am a substitute nurse and teacher at my local schools, but I desperately want to be able to work as a nurse, and show them that I can be an amazing one. I want to be a nurse that people remember an admire, as I am sure we all do, and yet no one will give us that chance. We know we can excel, and yet no one wants to give us a chance, it is very frustrating.

No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
I will go to my dads and step-mom's for thanksgiving and my mom's sisters house the friday after thanksgiving. My parents are divorced and re-married so I have to deal with thanksgiving twice!...Haha no biggie though I have know my step mom since 3 years old and she doesn't have any other kids besides me and my sister, I love her so much, like a second mom, and my step dad since about 10 and he cool too. It is funny I only managed 3 days of exercise, but got my calories higher than I usually can and the 3 days that I worked out I switched up my workouts and tried something new, mainly dancing around my room to music until watch said burned 500 calories and WOOt WOOt....I finally lost 1.2 pounds this week! It is the most I love in one week in a while, I have only been losing between .3-.5 pounds a week, I guess the dancing and eating the right amount of calories really helped, like I said before sometimes I would be too low. So I am now 126.6 pounds! It feels great and I had to buy some new clothes, and really need chistmas to come because all of my clothes are too big! Goodluck with your thanksgiving turkey, it will turn out great!..I think I am going to try to workout everyday this week, something new, in order to keep thanksgivings in check this week! haha Thanks for still staying in touch it really helps me and its nice to have someone to talkl to about it! CONGRATS on ebing lower than 130!!!...Keep up the good work I need to get on top of my exercise like you! I have a field hockey game later today so that will be good exercise!!! Talk to you later!

No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Hey, Sorry I have been missing for a while. I have been busy recently with christmas shopping, and work, well training and my other part-time job. Good news I am done all my Christmas shopping. This is definitely good for me so now I can only collect income and save up in case I have to relocate around christmas or shortly after, plus it feels so nice to know that I am done and dont have to rush around later, AND....now I can go black friday shopping for myself haha... This week my scale said I only lost .3 pounds even though I felt like I had an amazing week of working out, burning calories, lifting weights, trying new things, and eating. The day of my weigh in I was kinda of bloated due to my monthly gift so maybe that has something to do with it, who knows, I guess as always I shouldn't complain if I am still moving in the same direction. My boyfriend promised me that starting today he would start working out with me, he wants to get in shape for the police academy anyway. He needs to just build muscle and endurance he is a small kid, maybe 150 or 155 for being about 6 foot. Sometimes I try to fatten him up,,,hahahahaha But we shall see it is raining and has been raining here for the last forever!...And he doesn't belong to a gym with me so we shall figure something out. I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I am going to start to weigh in on Fridays and Mondays, I know I shouldn't weigh in twice, but Friday is my day and I know I won't be able to resist on Friday's, but I need to keep my weekends in line with weighing in on Monday hoping to see the same number. HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GOOD WEEKEND!!!!!

No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Yesterday I went to a spinning class..I have never been to one before, but have always heard it was a really good workout, so I went. It was a really good workout to say the least, but my butt is so sore now from the seat, I don't know how anyone can do that all the time. I mean I don't understand even during the class I was thinking, "am I really the only one with the seat hurting them?", but it was a good workout and maybe I will just make it a once in a while type workout! So yesterday I burned a total of 510 calories. Today I work at the gym from 5-9 so after I will be working out, I am there anyway. But you know what I am suppose to work until 9, but most of the appointments end at like 7:20 or 7:30 or 8 at the latest, so I ca usually get working out earlier. So if I get done early I can usually still make either a zumba class or an interval training class, which both are an amazing workout, but if worse comes to worse I will run! Sorry for such a long message but my goals for today are to get another 500 calories burned later, lift some weights for upper body, and eat at least 1,100 calories, I know this sounds strange but I have always had a problem eating enough calories, I eat so many healthy foods I am not hungry and sometimes don't reach my minimum, which i know is bad, and I am working on it daily! But anyway yeah I hope things work out for the job, but we shall see I am just going to try to be patient and see what happens, since that was the advice I was given but the nurse recruiter. My boyfriend said he will go with me wherever I can find a job, so that is really nice to know. My dad drives 75 minutes to work everyday and he doesn't seem to mind it too much, but in VA the 4 in a half hours would be too much haha...I am glad you are back on the wagon I didn't even realize you were off, you got back on so fast!...My training day was good got paid 90bucks for a 4 hour training so thats not bad. I have training and the elementry schools on thursday so that should be fun too! I am glad you had a good day and hope you have another one today too!

Christiana Care Internships for new Grads
hey I finally got an email back from the nurse recruiter at Christiana Care about the NICU internship program starting in February. It said that they had 181 applications for this position and it will take a few more weeks to figure out who they would like to interview and we will be e-mailed if we are not chosen to interview. So I am hoping that I get called for an interview, but will not hold breathe with there being 181 applications for the few positions they probably have available. But just in case other's were wondering this is what I was told today!...Goodluck everyone!.....hopefully we will all find something soon enough we just need to keep trying and stay as positive as possible!
