no job yet= lose weight time
okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..
started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.
then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.
i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.
this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...
i'll go first...
i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.
i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:
Yikes...I'm a goofball! I forgot to post on Fri, so now I'm deciding to post on Sun now about the prev week's progress (or lack). For the new year I have 8/10 days. Not my usual star numbers, ha-ha, but still very reasonable. I have had to settle for the shorter walk that my husband is willing to do, rather than the hour walk that I prefer. I am afraid of the ice without him. The weather has been pretty darn cold, but love it when it sunshines. I have been able to keep my weight under 130, my crunches without my feet under the furniture now. Also have added additional cycles to my bike routine. Welcome iamrn'09! Everybody sounds like they're doing super. Great job! And Lunah, congrats on joining the Army Nurse Corp. They wouldn't have me 'cause I was way too old :) I will post next Sunday unless something changes, but somewhat boring now since I am just trying to maintain my current level.
Happy new year! It's great reading everyone's plans to get healthy and in shape now that they are done with nursing school. I just graduated in December and I am also trying to lose weight. I'm in week 2 or 3 and although I haven't lost much weight yet I have been going to the gym regularly and have modified my diet. I'm taking the NCLEX next month and I'm worried that studying for that this month may interfere with my workout schedule. It's tough to get started when you've been lazy and out of the gym for awhile. I'd hate to break my momentum now. I figure I can set days and times for studying and for the gym. I hope that I can juggle both equally and not give up on one or the other. Good luck to everyone!
Thx Blindsided for the welcome:), I finished week 2 and i lost 1.6 lbs. Most importantly, I feel great and I'm still motivated to see this weight loss through until i get to my ideal weight. I still slip up on the healthy eating part (i'm working on it) but I am consistently going to the gym 6/7 days/week. Also if i make a mistake on the eating, i recognize it and i don't let it ruin the rest of my day's eating like I used to. Before if i ate something bad the rest of the day I think i ate even more just because i had already ruined my diet, so I think i'm doing good. SStenson I just finished going through that whole NCLEX/gym thing, I must say it's tough to juggle both b/c i was so nervous I felt guilty if i wasn't studying...as if i was to fail the nclex i would regret the time i spent at the gym...end result i gained 10lbs. Looking back, I realize excercise might have helped me with the stress and would have been beneficial for me, So good for you to make time for both and good luck!!
Hello again everybody! We welcome all newcomers! I am doing well with everything, except for a brief run-in with some cookies last week, oops! My greatest strength has always been NOT bringing junk into the house. Now when someone else brings it in (no names mentioned husband), then I occasionally fall hard off the wagon. Anyway, it was very brief, and I worked it off. I have learned not to tell him things that I think are good, 'cause he WILL get it for me since he thinks "I deserve a treat now and then." I have explained to him how this works against me, so he's gotten way better. Exercise so far 15/17 days for Jan., and weight maintained under 130. There have been days I will tell you, when the last thing I want to do is exercise, so I put that darn sticker up on the calendar beforehand and then I live up to it! Everybody have a good week and stay motivated...yeah!!!
Hey everybody, hope you all had a great week. I have maintained my weight between 128-129.6 pounds. Exercised 7/7 days last week and have started my week off today with a walk. Finally the snow melted and I was able to give my orthotics another try. I had been wearing my boots. They do seem to give me lots of support. Time will tell I guess. K. Morris, are you still out there? Hope your being gone means working, and if so, hope it is going well. All of you still staying motivated I hope, and have a super week :).
Well, I guess most everybody's too busy to keep the thread going, but I want to wish everyone good health and motivation to get fit this year! For my final post, I am 7/7 for exercise days last week. I am up to 60 crunches now, plus my usual upper body free weights 3x per week, walking and biking routine that I've been doing. Weight today was 128.6, and I intend to keep maintaining below 130. Also I am trying to get my sis over her 150 hump where she's currently stuck. I spent a few years there myself! Best luck to you all in your NCLEX taking, job searches, etc., and stay motivated to eat better, and exercise ONE DAY AT A TIME! :)
