No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!

Published

no job yet= lose weight time

okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..

started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.

then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.

i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.

this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...

i'll go first...

i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.

i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:

Thank you so much!...How is everyone else doing, I know you guys did amazing this week and hope you have just as an amazing weekend. Anyone got anything fun or exciting planned for this weekend. I don't, but I wish I did.

WE ALL NEED TO KEEP THIS UP~ TO SEE REAL RESULTS~ AND WE WILL!

Until I read this post, I hadn't thought about losing weight. I enjoy the posts so much that it might just happen spontaneously. Since I am a HH nurse, eating on the road is sometimes needed. I have found that a supplement (like boost) is a good meal while driving. Also, it immediately stops my hunger. (My stomach growls very loudly. Even the patients hear it. And a lot of them are HOH.)

My cap is off to all of you, because weight gain is a problem that a lot of nurses share. Once you get jobs (And You Will!) you will find that at certain times of the year, patients bring in the best goodies. Learning to control your weight is important, so that you can sample some of the gifts and not have to buy new clothes. (I've not yet had an experience with the Ex-Lax brownies.:chuckle)

Thanks for starting this e-support group, OP!

I weigh 186 pounds and would like to weigh 150 before my skin gets too stretched out. Count me in.

Welcome to our group and we are glad to have you here, the more people the better. Everyone has something new to give and new advice to share. We are here for you 100% if you need anything, have any questions, comments, or anything don't hesitate to post. Please let us know what your goals are, how you are planning to get, and so on. We would love to have you on this team.

I am really proud of everyone in this team for posting so much and keeping this such a real thing and having real weight loss. I know we will all reach our goals, we just need to keep doing what we are doing, and remember this is a lifestyle.

Welcome centex. Yeah that's a fact, those goodies are hard to ignore. Well, we're proving it can be done. I don't ignore them completely for sure, just trying to use common sense. I do think eating right might be harder with certain jobs. You're in your car alot. I prefer to work where I'm walking the halls more, but right now any job looks good! The Boost idea, or something like that is a good idea when you're on the run. Some of those things are pretty rich tasting for my taste, but don't know about Boost. Oh yeah, K.morris, please feel free to brag, and anyone else trying to do this. Today I did my floor exercises, and I'm less sore now from them now. I want to try to do them about twice a week, and my other stuff the rest of the time and I'm trying to do my arm exercise 3 x week. So, I'm six for six this week so far. Does anybody like to walk in the winter? I kinda do, except when there's too much ice. Plus there's so little light in the winter, I want to try to soak it up a little to improve mood. Well, I'm planning on exercising tomorrow too so 'll have seven days in. Love that! My sticker for today said "keep going!" So keep going everybody!!

Oh, and centex, I'm older than you!!!

blindsided..wow 6 for 6??? oh boy i dont even think of working out on the weekends! i'm horrible...I only consider monday-fri to be working out days...geez maybe that is why i am not losing as much as i want huh??? :banghead:

my goal is that i lose 2-3lbs by the 20th of this month...that is when my baby will be 3 months...I really want to be in the 120's!!! For some odd reason i always thought that i would lose all of my baby weight by 3 months..i was wrong! The first month after i had given birth to my son the weight just came off so easily that i thought it would be a piece of cake to shed the remaining of the baby weight...wrong again. I will measure myself soon with the measuring tape and let you all know if i see a difference in my measurements...i hope so!

Today I was visiting my dad who lives about 30 minutes away to watch the EAGLES GAME!....So I made sure to set the alarm early and got out for a 30 minute run and 15 minute walk and I am going for a 45-60 minute walk later too. Only thing is I let myself have a sane meal for the first time in like 3-4 weeks and had 2 slices of sicilian pizza and 4 plain chicken wings, but I am not too angry, I know I will work it off this week and I will be fine, have to once in a while, and I only have it once in a while.

Let's push ourselves this week the hardest yet and see if we can have our best weigh ins yet. lets go girls!

Hey guys, as you know, I don't have a scale, but I was able to weigh today at a friends house. My weight is 131.8 pounds, so I'm really just above my goal to stay under 130. I felt pretty good about it, I thought it would be a little more, but like I said, i'm still fitting in my clothes fine. I did get 7 of 7 last week, so yea me! Today I actually went to a family reunion with lots of food. I did have two drinks mixed with diet cola :) As far as food, I only had two meatballs, and the rest was fresh fruit and veggies. Now on the way home, my sister wanted to stop at Ritters, so I got a kids cone. The Ritters where she lives closed, so she likes to go when she stays with me. Overall, I did pretty good when I could have done really bad, but of course it was an all day thing, so I didn't get my exercise in :( My sister is treating me to lunch tomorrow, but we're going to a place that offers some healthy dishes. Hope everyone had a great weekend! By the way, can someone help me with this? I was following our thread by just clicking on my name, where we used to be able to see all previous posts. Looks like they changed things around again, and now I find it by doing the Google search. I cannot watch the tutorials because my computer won't support it, so if you can give me an easy explanation, that would be great.

hmm.... I don't know I can read all the previous post, but I just got to main website click students, then graduate nurse forum and then find our thread. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I am not sure what you mean because this is how I always do it. I am sorry. But congrats on your weigh in and you being soo good at eating today, that is awesome I can't wait to be that weight, but it will be soon!!!.....Keep it up!

Today I had to babysit for 8 hours, starting early and cutting into the time I usually work out so I had to get creative. I took the girls on a 30 minute walk in a double stroller, and we played outside all day pulling them in the wagon and etc. Then I went to my team I volunteer with's field hockey game and afterwards ( we won 7-0), I lead them on a 20 minute run, and I beat them all...haha granted they just played a whole game but still. So not my normal but it worked out and I got exercise in. I am going on a walk with my mom later too.

Hi everyone

I would love to join your group...I really need it! I have about 30 more lbs to lose in order to be reach my goal..125 :) I have a nice 5 mile trail by my house and I just got that Wii fit thing so I'll let you know how it goes. I already lost 8 lbs just dieting..definitely ready to do the exercise thing and really seize the day with all this time on my hands. It would be amazing to be losing weight throughout the winter instead of eating holiday junk and gaining a ton of weight.

Welcome JNRN09! I wish I had a trail by my house. I have to drive a few miles to get to our trails if I want to walk them. My sis and b-in-law have Wii. Great going on your wt. loss thus far! k.morris, I just go to that google search at the top of the allnurses page and type in no job-spare time=weight loss, and then it gives some allnurses choices, so that's how I get to our thread. It's probably faster than the way I was doing it by clicking on Blindsided at the top of the page on the left when I am logged in. Then you could see all previous posts by Blindided. Then I would pick my latest post to our thread. I don't know what happened to that way to do it. Anyway, in my weird computer way I am still able to find us, proving there's more than one way to get to Albuquerque! I forgot all about going to the forum. Oh, I'm LOL right now, knowing I'm confusing you more probably. Just finished my arm exercises, and getting ready to do my bike. So with my yesterday exercise, I'll have two of three this week. My sister just left, so I'm gonna get on it! Have a great work-out week everyone.
