no job yet= lose weight time
okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..
started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.
then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.
i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.
this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...
i'll go first...
i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.
i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:
Way to go k.morris! Sounds like one heck of a work-out, quite creative working all the different things into your sched. I did my 30 min of floor exercises instead of my bike today. Lots less sore from them now, so incorporated a couple additional ones today. Get a good nights sleep after all your hard work :)
Don't know if this is allowed but here is a link to a great site for weight loss buddies. www.buddyslim.com best of luck to you!
Thanks, I'll have to check it out, but mostly, it's all I can do to keep up with our thread. Hey, today our weather was gorgeous! I walked my usual walk, then a few blocks to the store, and later another fifteen minute walk. It was probably an hour and fifteen minutes total. So enjoyable. I called my sister an insisted she walk too. She did, and thanked me. Have a great night!
Hey everyone! Today, another beautiful day for walking. Did my walk plus an extra walk again, so got in about 45 minutes. I did really good with food today too, yogurt and banana and peanutbutter toast for breakfast. Later freash veggies for supper, and good fiber cereal for snack. Going to the lake tomorrow to see my sister and bro-in-law, so should be another great day. Don't know if I'll get my exercise in or not. Hope to. Cheers!
Yikes, Fri and today were NOT exercise days for me, too many activities planned. Fri I spent the day with my sis at the lake. Lazed around and did lake stuff, but so enjoyable. The weather? Perfect! Then today I had a dinner and gig to go to. Sit down dinner with tons of yummy food and desserts =( I brought a big healthy salad for my dish, but was overrun with non-healthy eats! The pumpkin bars were my weakness, of which I ate two. The other stuff I ate was pretty healthy though. Now this eve we're sched for another gig, thank goodness without food. Well, for exercise I only got in four of seven this week, but I guess it could have been worse. Sunday starts a new week, so lets keep going! At least I had a couple new blisters to show for my walking this week.
Yeah definitely, Starting today I am going to really strive to lose at least 2 pounds this week and keep this rolling. I am so excitied of what I accomplished now but it is not enough and I need to keep this up, it is a lifestyle and we can do this. Today I played in my field hockey league and we won!....I got chosen to play mid-field so of course I was doing a lot of running!......and even more running because my team needed a little help if you know what I mean, but all in all it was a good experience and excellent exercise. We have games every Sunday and hopefully next weeks game the grass will be shorter and drier...haha...Goodluck everyone!!! We can def do this and I want to hear what you guys have planned this coming week and what your goals are...
Let's go everyone!~!~!~!
Hey guys! I am just really disgusted by now. I was SO excited to see the thread, and about 1 1/2 weeks ago, I got the good ole GI virus and hoped that it would help me get rid of a few more lbs. I started out when I joined at 160 lbs, after going from 140 to 160 with cardiac surgery. I had the PFO and had the repair in the cath lab at Oschners in New Orleans, La, on June 30th, 2009. I weighed today and am back up to 159.7, and was just sick when I saw the numbers pop up.
Any suggestions on getting on the right track? I try to walk or get on the treadmill, but after the virus, I am not up to par yet. My cardiologist has oked me to get back to walking SOME, based on my HR and my sx.
Anne, RNC
I am sorry about your weigh in but don't let it discourage you too much, I know you can do this and you just need to move on from here. I am sorry to hear about your GI bug too and you should definitely do what you feel like you can handle. I love walking and running and biking and playing field hockey it has all helped for me. And I have to say what really turned my weight loss dream into something real to me is Sparkpeople.com, I have said it a million times, but I love the support from this site, the resources, and how i can track my food, weight loss and exercise. It really helps keep me accountable for everything I put inot my mouth and everything I do with my body. I hope this helps at least a little bit and I really wish you the best luck and don't give up you can do this!!
I have an announcement...today I found out that I officially lost 20 pounds since starting this weight loss journey. I started at 158 and am now down to 137.6 pounds and I am so proud, I have never lost this much weight before in my entire life and I am not done yet. The only downfall is that I don't actually feel 20 pounds thinner, but this weight loss has been so gradual, I guess I just get used to myself, but I am still so excitied and this really gives me a kick to finish this.
I want to challenge everyone to work out really hard this week in the hope of losing 2 pounds this week. I was also wondering if anyone was interested in a team CHALLENGE so we can keep eachother motivated and working towards a mini goal. I was thinking that we could make it...
LOSE 10 Pounds by HALLOWEEN!!!...
So we can really feel good for the coming holiday and dress up if we want. Just an idea let me know if you are interested!!
Hey everyone, got my exercise in today, upper body and also walked a little extra after my usual walk, which includes two times up and down the church steps. Sissiesmama, maybe you can do your exercise in increments, like ten minutes each to build up strength. Three ten minute sessions and your up to 30 minutes per day. I am not sure what you're able to tolerate. By all means have some compassion for yourself and what you have been through (alot!). k.morris, super congratulations on your 20 pounds! I always try to picture you playing field hockey. I was never into sports, and hated gym class, so admire others abilities. I like the idea of a team challenge, and losing two pounds this week. That would put me right in my maintenence weight area between 125-130. I would really like to get a scale, I think it would help me to have it in the house, as I have to go weigh at my son's house. I might try to get out tomorrow to price them. Don't think I need to lose 10 pounds though, I start to look too skinny (er, can you BE too skinny, ha-ha?). OK, tomorrow I'm planning on doing my floor exercises...lets go! If I get out to price scales, hope I can buy one! I have fruit and veggies in the house for this week too, and plenty of my no-fat yogurt, love that stuff with fruit. now if I can just give up my kids cone at Ritters! Sissiesmama...stay with us, and just begin to do what you can. I had two surgeries this past year, and had to build up strenth afterward, cause they set me back some. P.S. My last weight was 131.8 on 9/13 I think.
Hi ladies!!
I would love to join your group although it looks like I have a lot more to lose than most of you...I've been reading this thread for a while now but I actually started my journey a week ago today and I've lost 4lbs so far!!:yeah:
I'm basically exercising at home using exercise TV and I also cut my portions in half. I try not to snack during the day which is hard with a one year old! I rotate between Jillian 30day shred, Tae bo, 10 mins workouts.
Here are my stats:
sw: 227lbs
cw:223lbs:up:
Everyone stay focused and have a great week! we can do this!!

Today I had my best fitness day yet!...I babysat a 1 year old and 3 year and played all day long with them took them on a 30 minute walk in a wagon, and chased them all day. Afterwards I went to field hockey practice where I volunteer assistant coach, and I joined them in their schrimage for about 15-20 minutes of hockey. Then I came home stretched really good and went for a 36 minute run at about 8 min mile pace my farthest and fastest run in a long long time....it felt soooo good!.....then took my dog for a 10 minute cool down walk.
I am so proud of myself and I know I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.
Lets go everyone!....You get what you put into it, so lets make this week count.
