No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!

no job yet= lose weight time

okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..

started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.

then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.

i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.

this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...

i'll go first...

i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.

i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:

I have Jillian Micheal's 30 day shed too, it is really hard and an amazing workout. Yeah we would love to have you on our team. Congratulations on your 4 pound weight loss that is awesome and so motivating isn't it? To know that you did that yourself and there is more to come. Let's do this all.

If you have strong dedication p90x works. If you aren't completely dedicated to sticking with the program though it won't work. It come's with a meal plan and everything.

Also I noticed that some people only eat 3 meals a day. Though we all are different, ideally we should be eating 5 small portions a day instead of 3 big meals. We learned this through nursing school in our dietary interventions. You should never be full, but never really hungry either. If you are hungry between meals, you are only more likely to eat more during meals. It's not only about portion control but nutrition. I went from a 42" waist to a 36" from diet alone. Don't ever give up!

Thank you so much Kevin, good advice!

I have been doing really well with my diet but haven't been exercising much...I have been really depressed lately and of course NOT exercising only makes depression worse! Oh well, I will set my alarm so I can just get up and go tomorrow morning, and I'll leave my workout gear right next to my bed. I'm still scared to weigh myself I think I'm only going to do it once a month b/c then I wind up just fixating on the numbers. Everyone is doing such a great job on here...it's helpful when I'm having a fat day and need inspiration.

Wow! i'm glad we have new people in this forum! welcome! I just started to work this week! I will be very busy, i will be working full time in the hospital, and on my days off will work part time with mollen immunizations. I know it will definately be a challenge for me to keep up with this, but i am determined to do so, i am so close to my goal weight that i CANT give up now...do you guys think that i can count the walking that i do during my work part of my workouts??? i work 12 hour shifts and i get ALOT of walking done....

Congrats k morris!!!!! 20lbs that is great!! i'm sure that you can tell taht you lost weight, 20lbs is ALOT, and you may not notice it but others will, and it will make you feel great when others tell you how great you look. I LOVE the idea of the challenge! I am determined to lose two pounds this week!!! that would put me THREE pounds away from my goal weight!!!!!!!

Keep it up everyone!!!

Lets do it then team!!!............2 pounds here we come. Keep us posted throughout the week and let us know what you are doing to make sure you lose 2 pounds this week. Today I am at 756 calories for my day and have snacks left over so I will be fine in range. I worked out all day pretty much but in a more creative way than normal. I watch 2 little girls one is almost 2 and the other is 3. I run and chase them all day. Today we took about a 40 minute walk and hit up like 3 playgrounds, then we took another 20 minute walk in a wagon, and geesh these kids seem really heavy when you are either pushing on pulling them , it definitely turned into a workout. I am going to do some weight stuff too in a few minutes, and I volunteer as an assistant coach everyday for field hockey and play in a league on sundays. I love it!!!....

Tomorrow I hope to do same things with the girls, they love going outside and hopefully adding a run to my night. Let's do this!

If anyone is familiar with Dr. Ian Smith's Fat Smash, I did it for 10 days and lost 11 pounds. It stayed off for awhile, but alas..... Gonna do it again as a detox. Google it. It's basically all fruit and veggies and some brown rice.

Wow that's so low calorie wise. Women in general need 1200-1600 calories a day while men generally need 1600-2000 calories a day. By abstaining from so many calories your body is more likely to break down muscle and organs mainly before turning to mainly fat for energy. Our bodies naturally hold onto fat stores for times of famine. You may see some weight loss now, but as soon as you eat anything your body is going to store store store. Ideally we should eat a more balanced diet. Whole grains, veggies, fiber, some fat (especially monosaturated and omega rich food) as well as protein. They even teach that principle in weight watchers with eating scales of how many glasses of water you drink a day, multi vitamin, fruits, veggies, dairy , ect.

Welcome new posters! I finally got a scale, but I'm not getting on it until tomorrow morning! I know I'm up from my last weight of 131.8. I did get my exercise in this eve, so three for three this week. K.morris, I forget how many total calories you're allowing yourself per day. I was thinking it was 1200-1500? One thing I have got to do is improve my fluid intake. It is a real struggle for me...ugh water, I hate it! I do like my decaf tea though, straight up, no sugar or sweetner. Well, I will post my weight tomorrow...be very afraid :)

blindsided, you will be fine! yay you now can weigh yourself daily! lol jk dont do that! i used to do it and then would be discouraged because i would see my weight go up and down depending on how much water i had for the day...today i got in one hour of zumba and will have cereal for dinner.

Yikes! My weight was 132.8, I'm going up not down, doubt seriously it's muscle...think it's Ritters kids cones! But...my exercise is four for four this week. Well, we'll see what Saturday brings. Even if I don't lose two pounds, I'm shooting for seven of seven. GO!!!

Just checking in. Got my exercise in, plus a little extra walking today. I did not, repeat DID NOT have ice cream today, but I'm afraid it had more to do with the flavor of the day than my control! Anyhow, I got away unscathed :)
