No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!

no job yet= lose weight time

okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..

started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.

then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.

i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.

this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...

i'll go first...

i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.

i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:

Hey there, Well about me. I am 5'7 and 174.4lbs. I use to work out religiously but I have stopped ever since I started finals in school.(that was in April). So I will be getting back to the gym starting Monday and I will attempt to go 5 days a week. My goal is 150-155 So hopefully I can get there in a few months. We will see...

jnmoore02, welcome and hope you made it to the gym today! Well, I wish I was 5'7" but only 5'3" and even weighed more than you, so YES, I think you can do it. We are the proof. I'm going to be visiting my sister next week, so I can check out curves, as she has a free pass for me. That should be fun, but no matter how much I enjoy it, I can't financially join right now. Plus, I don't really like to have to drive somewhere to exercise. Still, I think exercising with a group is really effective for some. I know for myself, I really enjoy having someone to walk with that also enjoys exercise. So you guys I am two for two this week, yea :)

Yeah, I am using a free 7 day trial period at Bally's Fitness this week, and so far so good I went twice yesterday!....The first trip I did some running/cycling and some weights stuff. The 2nd trip was AWESOME!!!....

If any of you like to dance I would truly recommend this. I went to take a ZUMBA fitness class and it is a mix of latin/hip hop dance and was an amazing workout and just fun dancing. I used my f6 polar heartrate monitor and I burned 500 calories doing zumba and 505 calories running/cycling and ZUMBA was so much more fun!!!!....I can't believe I didn't find it earlier.

Continue the good work this week all!

Yeah, I busted a few moves myself the other night when I went to hear my son play, if you can picture that! Mostly classic rock, blues (think Stevie Ray), and some country too. Had lots of fun. Now hip hop, not so much. Somebody else on here was doing Zumba I think. We were trying to get that one hip move down, where it looks like the hips are independent of the body. Well that was too funny. Our friend said to pretend we were in a barrel, and to hit all sides of the barrel. Made sense, but not easy to translate :) Well, we all had a good time anyway, and burned a few calories I hope. It was really gray and blah today, but I went out and walked and felt better. Three for three so far. I've been having an awful time with my rt. foot, so I have an appt. to check it out next Mon. I've been shoring it up with padding, arch supports, etc.

Well ladies, I'm glad you both found Zumba! :yeah: Anything that involves constant motion is a great workout. As for me, I got out of the base late Monday, I went home and passed out. I did hit the gym yesterday doing some running and the elliptical. Also worked on the abs and back. I will be heading out there tonight again. It's a new start to working out again. The first several weeks are always the worst! Oh I am getting the P90X from a buddy, if any of you want it please let me know. I can probably send it as a file.

P.S.

I got 2 job interview next week at 2 different hospital. One for ICU and the other for Med-Surg.

Today I weighed 129.4. Normally, since it's a digital, I weigh three times then take the average. But I loved this weight so much that I decided to keep it, at least for today! Well, got my exercise in today too, so it was a good day all around. Good luck on your interviews jnmoore02, and also for hitting the gym. Some day I hope to own an elliptical. They're the bomb.

OK, end of the week and I'm seven for seven exercising. Yahoo! I've been trying to do a little better on my eating this week too. Only had my Ritters kids cone twice, ha-ha. Other than that weakness, I do pretty well keeping straight. How did everybody do this week? I got some new inserts for my shoes, so it's given me some slight relief for my rt. foot. Hope to get an xray this monday. My walk was only 1.8 miles, so I added a little to make it 2 mi, or just over. Can't take much more than that on my foot, plus taking ASA. Tylenol doesn't touch it. Tomorrow starts a new week, so everybody have a good productive one! This coming week then I get to try Curves. I'm looking forward to it. :) :)

i'd like to start this up too. i gained more weight than should be physically possible during nursing school (ugh stress eating!) and haven't really had the motivation to lose it... maybe if i have some sort of accountability then it'll make a difference! and like you said, it's not like we have much else to do!! great idea!!

DHoward...WELCOME! Share your stats if you'd like to. Are you also looking for a job?

I was 4/5 this week. I prefer working out Mon-Fri. I did start my weight training and running. I must admit my body is still aching, especially form the squats and hamstring exercises. I got my interview tomorrow and one on Thursday. Wish me luck guys. Also good luck this week, lets keep up the hard work...

jnmoore02, GOOD JOB! Yeah, the stuff I do isn't strenuous, it's moderate, otherwise I wouldn't do it 7 of 7 days. I'm also doing some arm exercises 3 x week. Today I started off the week with my "new" walk, then later took an additional walk after supper. I'll see about my foot tomorrow. Super luck on your interviews :)

Hey everyone,

I worked out the hardest I ever have this week and lost 4.2 pounds to bring myself to 132.4 pounds!!....This is crazy I didn't think I would ever get here only 8 pounds from my goal weight and 2 pounds away from my halloween goal, and FINALLY HIT 25 POUNDS LOST!!!!!. I am just going to finish this thing slow and steady and I am really excitied about it. I hope everyone else is doing amazing too.

Goodjob this week everyone, let's do it again this coming week!
