No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!

no job yet= lose weight time

okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..

started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.

then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.

i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.

this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...

i'll go first...

i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.

i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:

Yeah I kno what you mean sometimes I just wana cry because of all of the stress from not finding a job and almost 6 months since graduated. We are left thinking will we ever find a job, it doesn't seem like there is anything left to do or hope for, and soon I feel like I might forget everything I learned in school and forget my clinical experience. Then I think when I finally do get an interview they are going to ask me about certain situations in clinical and I am not going to remember clinical at that point.

I know exactly how you feel about the job search stuff...this is what I did to help myself get over it and make myself feel slightly better, although there are still those break down moments where I think of how I have zero prospects.

I started to work out everyday because I had nothing to do, I would wake up stretch, go for a run, or do a workout DVD, ride my bike, or visit various gym websites to get free memberships to try etc. I made this into my new full time job while I had all the time in the world to focus on just me. So everyday I had something to do besides worry, I would work out and felt somewhat fullfilled for the time.

I started this in july at 158 pounds...my personal highest point and as of yesterday I am now 130 pounds, which is a 28 pound loss, and I can't believe it.

So I know that you can do this and this is the best time for you to do this while you have all the time in the world to focus on yourself and your health and you are important! exercising 2-3 times a week is a good start, but you need to push yourself in order to see real results and changes. I would really recommend looking into the website I talk about so often. It is called sparkpeople.com, they will help you develop a plan, then let your track your food, exercise and get plenty of support, my name on sparkpeople is UHOHDREAMIN, I can help you also.

But you can do this and it will help you feel better, at least it helped me, you just need to be serious and make the changes yourself, you cannot do this unless you are behind and supporting yourself all the way, and we will help too.

Welcome to our team, I hope I didn't scare you with all that text...

thanks K. I am def not at the point of inspiration that you are. I wish I was. Last year I lost 25 or so pounds without trying...I swear it was a gift from God. None the less, the busier I am, the healthier I am. No excuses, I swear, this is just where I'm at, and I will not make promises that I am not following through with. So...that being said, I am heading over to that site, and I also like the site The Daily Burn, I think they are very similar.

I agree, that I need to do something daily. when I think of the every other day thing, it is very easy for me to talk me out of it.

So I'm in a bit of a slump today, I do hope you forgive me for the negativity. I will get back up, and I do appreciate your encouragement. God bless you.

Don't worry about your negativity, its how you feel so I am glad you could share it with us. Hey you may not be there yet, but that doesn't mean you won't get there, it is a long journey and I know you can do it!!.....I will be here for you

Hello everyone. I only got in 5/7 exercise days last week, but was happy to have those in. Weighed 129.8 yesterday. k. morris, I want to thank you too for your great encouragement of everyone here. You have accomplished an amazing amount with your work-outs. My sis is starting a new phase and dropping to 1250 calories this week, I belive. I keep forgeting to ask her the site she's using, but she prints out weekly charts of some sort for her and her husband. My hsband is coming along slowly. He actually had a gig to play last night, and refused to cancel. My son helped him though, or he'd never have gotten through it. He is still quite weak, and had a little fever, 100.8 when he got home last night. He hit the couch asap. Now today, he's having a little appetite for soup and jello. Well, I have to get around and get my exercise in to start off the week. Usually if I'm not feeling it, I come here first for inspiration :)

Aw thanks but I really enjoy this team and everyone on it. It helps keep me accountable and pushing myself, but in order to lose these last 6-10 pounds I was hoping maybe we could create some kind of challenge for this team. I am not exactly sure what kind of challenge for be best for this team, but I was hoping maybe you guys would have some suggestions. I really want to get these last stubborn pounds off and really be able to sit back and look at the journey we all made.

So I was think maybe a exercise challenge, or a goal pounds lost by a certain date(like new years or christmas)..

Maybe lose 10 pounds by Christmas, or 30 minutes a day challenge, or abs challenge, or try something new challenge. I am not entirely sure. but I need to do something to really kick start these last 6-10 pounds.

ANY IDEAS???

Remember we can do this!!!!...We have been through such a weird and exciting journey so far and we can't just give up now, or we will regret it!....We are the ones who need to be accountable for ourselves and make this happen. Just think we are a minority in this world, most of the world is not consistently trying to stay fit, we should be proud and keep this up!!!!!!

Hey, I'm up for a challenge. What about this ab challenge you're talking about? I was thinking you didn't want to get below 125, or do I have that wrong? Or is 125 your current big goal then go from there? My abs could use some help, I'll grant you that. Maybe try to work up to so many crunches or something? What ideas do you have? By the way, is it best to do crunches with your knees sl bent, feet flat on floor, and arms crossed in front of chest? I've seen different ways.

No yeah you have it right!...As of now my goal is to get to 125 and right now that is all I am thinking about, but if I get there and decide I am not fully happy, I am decided to lose just another 5, but I doubt I will ever go under 120 no matter how I feel.

Abds are an amazing idea because as we become more fit, I know I at least would love to lose my tummy bump. And working abs is an excellent way to do this. I did an ab exercise the ither day while laying on a stepper and did lower abs and I really felt that.

Let's make this challenege, GET CREATIVE WITH AB EXERCISES!!!

We will commit to doing abs everyday and making it fun and creative. I will be targeting lower abs and obliques. Let me know how everyone does with this, should be fun!

Today and Tomorrow I will be doing my best to have amazing workouts and eating habits. My weigh in is friday and I would love to be able to say that I am in the 120's for the first time in a LOOOOONG time, plus I will have just a few more pounds lost before my bog halloween party that I am going to and a few more pounds closer to my goal!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE!

I have a great ab exercise for you: bellydance. No kidding! I've been doing it for years. I love it! I just bought a DVD with a menu where you can pick and choose 10-minute workout segments focusing on abs, legs/butt, chest/back, arms, cardio, etc. It's fun!

Awesome!.....I would love that!!!! Have you ever taken formal classes or just the DVD's?

Both. I have a local instructor, but I'm taking a break from her classes because my BSN program is taking up more of my time than I thought it would. So I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/My-Personal-Trainer-Bellydance-Fitness/dp/B0007WFXK8

It has a tutorial for people unfamiliar with bellydance, and then it has the customizable stuff. I'm enjoying it!!

Awesome sounds really fun and a good belly workout!

Well, I don't know about belly dance, ha-ha, but I will commit to getting creative with the abs. All I know is crunches, so I will have to look up some others. I have my exercise in every day this week. Tomorrow in addition I'll start cruches, and go from there! k.morris, you will see the twenties, no doubt!
