No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!

no job yet= lose weight time

okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..

started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.

then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.

i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.

this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...

i'll go first...

i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.

i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:

Soory about that last game in the series, although I was cheering against you :) I was rather hoping it would go to game seven to make it really exciting. Have 5/5 in this week so far. Yes, I can picture you on your workouts, like a little dynamo. I think you might reach that 124 this month for sure, the way you're going! I think everyone else has left us, but hope they'll join us again. I know on this weight loss journey I've come and gone some, before this time around when I finally decided to take off the last 20 or so pounds. Now just need to maintain, and get a little more fit. If I ever get any money, I WILL get that eliptical! Tomorrow's supposed to be another beautiful and sunny day for walking, so plan to take advantage. What does your boyfriend think of all this weigt you've lost? My husband has never been critical of my weight, no matter what I weighed, but for sure I've been critical of myself. Plus as a nurse I've always felt I should be a role model for my patients if I can. Well, enjoy the rest of this week and keep up the good work! You are super dooper!

yeah I was hoping the same thing, but it was still a good series to watch!...The yankees won can't say much more about it!...it was still fun to watch!

Congrats 5/5 is awesome!!....I am 3/5 as of now, but my calorie intake was adjusted according to if I did workouts or not. And yeah I don't mind just keeping up with me and you on this team, like you said they may be back and I hope they do, but I am glad we both stuck with it. You have come such a far way and I can't wait to be in maintence and tone mode as well along with you. Someday hopefully in November.

My boyfriend lives my new body, he never said anything negative about my old body he still loved me, but he definitely stares a little more now, I can tell!!! it makes me feel really good that he notices and appreciated it too, but it was for me and I am very excitied about it.

Today I weighed in and lost only .6 pounds( so now I weigh 127.8) , but its a move in the right direction so I can't be too mad, it is harder now to lose that I thought it would be, but it does get harder the less you have to lose. Next week I am aiming for a 1 pound loss, but we shall see what happens. I am really pushing through this November challenge, I just need to get a little more exercise in, it has been hard with the job search and my little sister had off from school this week so I watching her all day when I usually do my workouts, but Im not mad i still got in good exercise!!!!

Have fun on your walk in the sun!, and I hope you have a good weekend!

Thanks for sticking with me on this thread, WE CAN DO THIS!

Checking in for end of the week, and I am 7/7, and tomorrow starts our new week. I have been troubled with candy this past week. I am VERY strong about NOT bringing it into the house, but when my husband brings it in and it's on the counter...look out! I have made him promise to STOP doing this, and he has agreed. I always start out eating smart, then things sometimes go downhill as the day goes on. Does this sound familiar at all? Next week I am going to try eating fresh fruit more when I get a munchie, and see how that works for me. New week, new rules :) Let us know how you're orientation goes. Have a great week!

OK, I have to eat my words, because Sunday I started off the week not lifting a finger toward exercise (unless you count lifting the Sunday paper). So today I made up for it (sorta) by doing an extra 30 minutes. We had pizza for supper, but mine was thin crust veggie, yum. Hubby's was meat lovers of course :) Good news is no candy on the counter!

Eh...Don't worry about it we all have our good days, our better days, and our not so good days, as long as you jump back on the wagon next time you can you will be fine! And that pizza sounds delicious, it makes me want some so bad!!!...haha its not that bad for you either, good job you got to have a food you love but healthier style.

I have been doing really good this week, this weekend was kinda bad eating wise but I am making it up this week!...I played field hockey on Sunday and we won!...Yesterday I burned 490 calories taking a interval training class and today I plan to do some weights and a spinning class!

I got an e-mail from the Nurse recruiter at a children's hospital I have been applying to and got an e-mail from her today saying, "thanks for your interest in our hospital, I forwarded your application to the Nurse Manager and after she reviews it, I hope to be contacting you for an interview, so be patient and I will be in touch soon," So I am not sure if this is a good thing or just a standard message but it sounded nice to hear, that she actually returned my inquiry, I will be praying and keeping my fingers crossed. Only thing now is I was always e-amil by another nurse recruiter today stating there were 181 applications for the New grad Nicu position I applied for and I will know if I was selected for an interview in a few weeks. So it will be hard to get it competing with 181 other applications, but you never know.

I would have to relocate for the one oppurtunity and the other is only 45 minutes away but with the uncertainty of today's economy I guess I will have to take whichever comes first not, if any comes at all.

Hope you have a good week, sorry about the rant about my nursing search. GOODLUCK keep up the good work!

Well, it sounds like you're in the mix at the very least! How did your orientation for the school nurse sub position go? Ya, I'm back on the wagon today. Did my bike standing and sitting routine and worked up a sweat. I hadn't been on it for awhile and forgot my fan that I usually set up. The job at the childrens hospital is your first choice? It would be so cool if you get an interview. What would your boyfriend think about relocating? I've had to drive some fair distances in my career, that's a fact. You can use the time to decompress and/or prepare for your shift. Music was always a big part of my drive, also public radio and news. If and when I go back to work, I hope to find something close to home this time. My last drive was 45 minutes, and it wasn't too bad, except it was a two lane road, lots of trucks. Anyhow, hope you hear something sooner rather than later, and in the mean time, in between time, you're heading straight for your current goal!!! Have a great week too :)

Yesterday I went to a spinning class..I have never been to one before, but have always heard it was a really good workout, so I went. It was a really good workout to say the least, but my butt is so sore now from the seat, I don't know how anyone can do that all the time. I mean I don't understand even during the class I was thinking, "am I really the only one with the seat hurting them?", but it was a good workout and maybe I will just make it a once in a while type workout! So yesterday I burned a total of 510 calories.

Today I work at the gym from 5-9 so after I will be working out, I am there anyway. But you know what I am suppose to work until 9, but most of the appointments end at like 7:20 or 7:30 or 8 at the latest, so I ca usually get working out earlier. So if I get done early I can usually still make either a zumba class or an interval training class, which both are an amazing workout, but if worse comes to worse I will run!

Sorry for such a long message but my goals for today are to get another 500 calories burned later, lift some weights for upper body, and eat at least 1,100 calories, I know this sounds strange but I have always had a problem eating enough calories, I eat so many healthy foods I am not hungry and sometimes don't reach my minimum, which i know is bad, and I am working on it daily!

But anyway yeah I hope things work out for the job, but we shall see I am just going to try to be patient and see what happens, since that was the advice I was given but the nurse recruiter. My boyfriend said he will go with me wherever I can find a job, so that is really nice to know. My dad drives 75 minutes to work everyday and he doesn't seem to mind it too much, but in VA the 4 in a half hours would be too much haha...I am glad you are back on the wagon I didn't even realize you were off, you got back on so fast!...My training day was good got paid 90bucks for a 4 hour training so thats not bad. I have training and the elementry schools on thursday so that should be fun too!

I am glad you had a good day and hope you have another one today too!

Oh yeah, some bicycle seats are the pitts! The one on my bike is way more reasonable. My daughter has a teribly uncomfortable seat on hers. I've had my bike for years, so they probably don't even make it anymore. I dread it breaking down, so far, so good. I did my bike again today. This time I remembered to set my fan up, turn the heat down, etc. I overheat really easy, so the fan helps lots. Sounds like you are doing so super. And no, I can't imagine not being able to get enough calories in. That's not been my problem :) Well, your current part-time work sounds like a good fit for you. Glad you have it. Well, have a great weekend. Enjoy!

Hey,

Sorry I have been missing for a while. I have been busy recently with christmas shopping, and work, well training and my other part-time job. Good news I am done all my Christmas shopping. This is definitely good for me so now I can only collect income and save up in case I have to relocate around christmas or shortly after, plus it feels so nice to know that I am done and dont have to rush around later, AND....now I can go black friday shopping for myself haha...

This week my scale said I only lost .3 pounds even though I felt like I had an amazing week of working out, burning calories, lifting weights, trying new things, and eating. The day of my weigh in I was kinda of bloated due to my monthly gift so maybe that has something to do with it, who knows, I guess as always I shouldn't complain if I am still moving in the same direction.

My boyfriend promised me that starting today he would start working out with me, he wants to get in shape for the police academy anyway. He needs to just build muscle and endurance he is a small kid, maybe 150 or 155 for being about 6 foot. Sometimes I try to fatten him up,,,hahahahaha

But we shall see it is raining and has been raining here for the last forever!...And he doesn't belong to a gym with me so we shall figure something out. I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I am going to start to weigh in on Fridays and Mondays, I know I shouldn't weigh in twice, but Friday is my day and I know I won't be able to resist on Friday's, but I need to keep my weekends in line with weighing in on Monday hoping to see the same number.

HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GOOD WEEKEND!!!!!

Yeah, he does sound pretty trim for 6 ft. I cannot believe you have your Christmas shopping done. Amazing! I tend to procrastinate, but do have my sister bought for so far. I NEVER venture out on Black Friday. Good thing you're physically fit :) I got in 6/7 days last week, and 2/2 so far this week, so I'm off to a good start. I hardly ever remember to weigh (now that's convenient) but I can always tell by my jeans if I need to be more careful. You mentioned your "monthly gift," and though I don't have to worry about that any more, but I've traded it for constipation. Yikes, sometimes I am very bloated. I've stepped up the water a little more (gag), and I'm eating apples again, like this very minute. Oh the plight of old ladies, ha-ha. What is your game plan for Thanksgiving? I don't usually worry too much that day re eating, just try to be reasonable. I feel full pretty quick anyway since I've been doing this long enough. I don't really deny myself, just try to eat smaller amounts. Well, Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to put some weight on your man, if nothing else :) Hope you have a great week.

I remembered to weigh on Fri and it was 129.2, so under 130, yea. I've been running around getting ready for Thanksgiving, but I managed 6/7 days exercise this week. We will have 12 total, including my husband and I. I just do the basics, nothing fancy. This year I'm doing my turkey in a big electric roaster, instead of the oven, so I'm a little nervous since I've never used one. I like the idea of having the oven free for other dishes. What does your family do on Thanksgiving? tomorrow starts a new week, so I hope we all have a great Thanksgiving, and can exercise some control before, during, and after the holiday!

I will go to my dads and step-mom's for thanksgiving and my mom's sisters house the friday after thanksgiving. My parents are divorced and re-married so I have to deal with thanksgiving twice!...Haha no biggie though I have know my step mom since 3 years old and she doesn't have any other kids besides me and my sister, I love her so much, like a second mom, and my step dad since about 10 and he cool too.

It is funny I only managed 3 days of exercise, but got my calories higher than I usually can and the 3 days that I worked out I switched up my workouts and tried something new, mainly dancing around my room to music until watch said burned 500 calories and WOOt WOOt....I finally lost 1.2 pounds this week!

It is the most I love in one week in a while, I have only been losing between .3-.5 pounds a week, I guess the dancing and eating the right amount of calories really helped, like I said before sometimes I would be too low. So I am now 126.6 pounds! It feels great and I had to buy some new clothes, and really need chistmas to come because all of my clothes are too big!

Goodluck with your thanksgiving turkey, it will turn out great!..I think I am going to try to workout everyday this week, something new, in order to keep thanksgivings in check this week! haha

Thanks for still staying in touch it really helps me and its nice to have someone to talkl to about it! CONGRATS on ebing lower than 130!!!...Keep up the good work I need to get on top of my exercise like you! I have a field hockey game later today so that will be good exercise!!!

Talk to you later!
