No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!

Published

no job yet= lose weight time

okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..

started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.

then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.

i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.

this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...

i'll go first...

i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.

i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:

Sorry I was missing, I have been busy I read your previous post, and just couldn't reply because of time restraints, SORRY!

Hey, no problem, just post when you can. It's really nice that you get along so well with your step parents. It says alot about them and you! I had a laugh picturing you dancing around your room. Whatever burns the calories, right? I meant to ask you, What does your boyfriend do? Also, congrats on reaching 126.6 :) I am 3/3 this week so far. I know I'll get tomorrow in, but probably not Thanksgiving. We'll see, so much to do. Well enjoy yours, and I will too. I like to watch the dog show on Thanksgiving, so cute :)

Well my Thanksgiving was great, and hope you and everyone on allnurses had a great one too. So I managed 6/7 days last week, every day but the holiday. Managed to get my exercise in today too, so started out this week good. I seem to be eating reasonably (oh my, all those leftovers). I ate no pumpkin pie, but allowing myself two pieces of my daughter's yummy fudge per day. It'll be gone tomorrow, so I'm happy about that. I got my trees up and decorated Saturday, and my Sister's presents wrapped. Maybe plan to do a little shopping tomorrow, we'll see. My dau-in-law was impressed with my calendar when she saw it...all those stickers for exercise days :)

hey guys, I have been reading your post, it is so motivating and interesting. I am a new grad, just got my license in October but I am so exhausted and frustrated,I cannot find a job!! couples of interviews here and there but still nothing yet. It just eats me not finding a job, then I have decided to do something more productive : LOSE MY BABY WEIGHT. I actually started this morning, I would like to lose probably 30 lbs. My current weight is 189 lbs and it will help to be able to vent somewhere

Yeah that would be awesome to have you on our team and support group it really is great to just be able to vent, post and motivate. Welcome and you can do this, goodluck! we are here for you!

My thanksgiving was alright!!! Congrats on your exercise you got in and the no pumpkin pie!! That is truly awesome, I didn't do too much exercise extra about 3 days last week but all of those days I burned a lot mroe calories than normal to prevent from too much gain from the holidays, and I only gained a pound and a half and I will lose it again fast so no worries here!!...Holidays are hard but I will get through it and be completely fine by summer when it counts more haha...I am sorry I haven't posted in a while I got a job finally and although I can't keep it forever because I get no benefits, it works for now.

It is a homehealth care agency that provides care to babies and kids which is right upp my alley so I am excitied about it, plus they are expecting and helpimg me to find other stuff because they are understanding of what new grads are going through and really want to help, I can work as many or as few as hours as I want and I am grateful for it at this time!

So that being said I have been trying to figure out the whole hiring process with them along with finding a doctor that accepts my new personal crappy insurance has been hard but finally did it. Hope we all have amazing weeks!!!

IT IS WHAT WE MAKE IT!!!

congrats K morris on the job, that is awesome even without benefits!!I had a proposition in home health peds also, but I am still waiting for my license to be endorsed to start working there. How do u like it? congrats again!!

Welcome keakea! Yes, join us if you're wanting to lose and become more fit. Hope you find a job too. Congrats k.morris on your job! I walked today for an hour, did my fifty crunches and my little free weights (3 x week for those). So far this week I'm 4/4, yea :) k. morris you inspired me, and now I have quite a bit of my Christmas shopping done, and lots of wrapping done. Keep us posted on your new job too.

Hi all,

I am jumping on the fittness wagon as well. School work has taken its toll on my waistline. I picked up a wii fit just before Thanksgiving and am putting it to use. I started at 207lbs. (I am a guy) The wii fit is a serious workout, and fun also. I hope to be at 200 by end of the Dec. and less than 180 by Aug. before my trip. I am watching my intake and staying off the etoh.

Happy holidays everyone!

I am in the same boat....I gain much weight in nursing school.....and now it time to lose it...Before nursing school, I had this awesome figure...where did it go....I know, I sat too long studying etc.....

Congrats k.morris on your new job. I to was hired as a field nurse for a home health agency.....I DON'T LIKE it....too many promises that were made upon hiring and none of them has materialized.....I find it to be extremely boring, no benefits, no utilizing of skills.... I get paid per visist, but don't get paid when I'm doing paperwork.... so I continue to look for that nursing job.......

In the meantime, I will read all these pages for support in losing weight!

Thanks for starting this thread.

Hello all, I would really love to be a part of this...I have just finished reading ALL of your posts for this thread and I am so inspired. I can really tell that you are all nurses (and soon to be nurses). Your posts are so caring and genuine. I am also inspired by the success stories and can imagine someday feeling amazed that I actually finally reached my goals.

I'm going to be 45 this month, I'm 5'5 and I'm not sure how much I weigh because I don't have a scale (170's?). I'm planning on going back to the gym tomorrow. I've also gained a ton of weight from babies (I am blessed with 5 children) and from stress eating and studying through pre-reqs and nursing school. I graduated this past May and I've suffered depression due to the job market and personal stuff. My oldest was drinking heavily and has been smoking for years. I am so grateful and blessed that he has been home with me for 4 months and has stopped all of that. He scared the crap outta me I just wanted to cry all the time. He suffers from depression and so does my next youngest son. I broke away 4.5 years ago from an abusive marriage and my oldest children have had a long road of healing right along with me. Whew! what a journey it's been! It was such a trial going through all of that to get my BSN and then fall flat on my face when there are no jobs.

I have been doing the marathon application/rejection thing like clockwork. Checking my application status usually 2x a day and surfing for new opportunities. I know so many new grads know what I'm talking about! I got a nibble a couple of days ago that one of my applications was forwarded to the floor mgr. Hoping for good news next week, but it would require relocating. I would be SO grateful for this opportunity as I know any new grad would...

I know this is all so heavy and personal but I've been needing a safe place to let some of the pressure out and I've been so warmed by your posts. Its funny because before this post I have been a chronic 'lurker' of allnurses.

Anyway, my sons have been smiling again lately and I've felt a strong sense that our lives will be improving steadily...soon. I want to start taking care of myself again and I know that joining your team will help me make good choices for my health. My daughters love to bake so that is my biggest challenge. Also I cant jog anymore due to stress incontinence. I know the whole kegal thing would help, but that's just never something that I think about doing...

I'll let you go now, thanks for listening to such a long post. Take care and I look forward to all of your posts!

Hi treelover;

For your gym regimen try and include the adduction/abduction machines.....if you aren't haven't any problems with this equipment, include lunges and squats intervals.....Make sure you got a clean bill of health before taking on these excercises....The add/abd machines help me out much.....better than the kegel excercises.

Think about bladder training, just like they taught in nursing school....empty bladder before/after excercise, try to avoid UTIs, holding on to urine...etc...make sure you don't have any underlining medical problems.

Enjoy your workout!!

Hey it is so nice to see so many new members here and active!!!

:grpwlcm:

Sorry I have been missing I was substituting as a school nurse and have been training harder recently.

I don't think I mentioned it here yet, but I have started training for a MARATHON!!! yes all 26.2 miles of it. I thought it would be an amazing workout plus such a good new goal for me to works towards. the numbers of losing weight wasn't a good enough goal to keep me going strong. I needed something new and exciting and this is it. On Thursday I began and ran 40 minutes and today I ran 50 minutes!..It felt great, I felt like I could have ran longer but that is not what my trainer suggest.

You want to know ho my trainer is, MY GRANDPOP, he has run over 30 marathons plus teh Boston Marathon plently of times. He can't run too much anymore because of a recent hip replacement but he really wants to train me and I think it would be awesome for us to do together and something awesome for us to experience together as well.

I will be training for the next 6 months!!..In december my grandpop's plan is to run at least 4 days a week at 3-5 miles and maybe a 6 mile run on Saturdays or Sundays. Of course it will get longer and harder, but this is a base month.

Anyway I have been counting my calories perfectly and am really exciting about my hopefully (fingers crossed) progress. I will call my Homehealth care job on Monday and hopefully I can start training, and I did substitute nurse the other day, it was so cute and fun! I love kids so much. I too will be looking for another job as I work this home healthcare job, but for right now it will work.

I just recently had to drop 860 dollars on fixing my car, so lucky I was done christmas shopping, but I have to put a hold on the iphone i was going to buy myself as a reward and a lot of other stuff, but its okay stuff happens in life and you just need to do what you need to do.

As for everyone here, YOU CAN DEFINITELY LOSE THE WEIGHT AND GET MORE FIT!!!....Blindsided!!!!! You may not realize it but you really inspire me and make me want to be better, knowing that you are putting 100% in make me want to do the same! Keep up the awesome work and workouts!!!!

SOrry so long but had a lot to catch up on and sometimes once you start typing it is hard to stop thinking of something you want to say!
