no job yet= lose weight time
okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..
started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.
then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.
i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.
this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...
i'll go first...
i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.
i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:
Two days without ice cream!!! Also, forcing down more fluid, gag I will weigh tomorrow and post no matter what! K.morris, good going. Bet your family is proud of you too. How tall are you? I am 5'3" and small boned. Can you picture me @ 179 pounds??? Unbelievable! I got my exercise in today, six for six. Well, we'll see what tomorrow's weigh-in brings :)
I am 5'3'' as well!!!!!........and thank you so much, my family is proud of me but I am not proud of my yesterday!
Okay yesterday, I had a little falling out!...I ate about 5 pieces of mini fun size candy, because it ws spirit box day for field hockey and I had a little movie theatre popcorn when I made it for my little sister, had a few chips, pretzels and had my calories up to 1600, which is a lot higher than I normally go. I usually hit maybe 900-1100.
But thank goodness I weighed myself this afternoon, after breakfast and some water, which I know you aren't suppose to do, but I couldn't resist, and I was actually lower....136.2!...Wow I can't believe it maybe I really need to work on upper my calories, i always try really hard but it can be hard for me and always has been. But I think I will try to do it with healthier food next time.
I have to admit, I am a little thicker boned, and have really wide hips, and a big booty!...haha boyfriend doesn't mind, but it bothers me. You can do this! We can all do it together!..Goodluck on your weight in!
Yea, I squeaked by at 130.6 (2.2 pound loss). My digital scale weighed me something different each time I get on. Maddening! So I weighed three times, and took the average. Plus, I met my goal of seven of seven this week for exercise. K.morris, don't feel too bad about your eating, I celebrated with a kids cone! I'm with Kevin7117 re calories. Probably 1200 should be the minimum as active as you are. Also, have to be able to realistically maintain too. I haven't been counting calories or anything this past week, just limited my intake a little more, and stepped up the exercise a little. I have been doing an extra round of standing up with my exercise bike, a few extra walks here and there. Paid off. I want to still go down a little to stay below 130, which I think is something I can realistically do. Not sure what my plan of attack is this week, except to avoid Ritters some more, and shoot for seven of seven again. I would be very happy to lose another 2 pounds! How did everyone else do this past week? Oh, yeah, I'm looking up that fat smash thing just to see what's shakin' there. Just the name sounds radical :)
Hey so I was kind of impulsive, but after thinking about my success and wondering how to keep this motivation up I bought the HEART RATE Monitor WATCH Polar F6 Pink Womens. I am really exciting to get it because I think seeing the actual numbers of calories I am burning will motivate me to hit more and to stay more positive with my eating as it is a real visual. Plus I needed something to power my intiative to workout and workout hard. Hopefully this does the trick we shall see how my weight loss compares. I am ready to make this challenge!!..
Oh yeah I am really stuck now. I wanted to get to my goal weight of 125 but now that I am 136 my mom kind of got really mad I wanted to lose more weight and said I would look too skinny because a lot of my weight is muscle, but I don't agree. I really just want to be in the 120's. Any suggestions??
I wouldn't think 125 would be too thin since you're only 5'3", but what would you say your bone structure is? Might make a difference too. And lean weight does look much different. Maybe we can shoot for 2 pounds again this week? I'm willing. I did exercise today, so two for two. We went out to dinner with friends, and they picked the restuarant, authentic Mexican. Very good, but not calorie wise! Well, as I always say...tomorrow is another day. So, this thing you bought measures calories burned and heart rate? I'm usually staisfied with myself if I work up some sweat, or a couple blisters, ha-ha. The last few days I have been drinking more (for me). I do think it's important, but ooooh, it's hard for me
I would say my bone structure is wider, I have really big hips and butt, always have!...and I do have lean weight, I would agree, but I would never want to lighter than 120 or 125 personally. I think in a weird way they are kind of jealous, not in a mean way, just maybe subconsciously. I will just continue what I am doing and that will be that. And yeah the monitor seems kewl , I didn't get it yet, but I wanted something to push me even further than I have been. Have always been an athlete I am not so used to making up my own workout routines, usually a teammate is pushing me and I am always competing with them. So now that I am on my own, I want to really compete with myself and my calories. It tells you if you are in fat burning zone, how many calories you burn per workout, of course the time length, the percentage of your HR, your HR, and more that I probably won't understand. I think it would just be kewl like in the middle of my 45 minute run, realize I only burned so many calories so I would know to up it with a short sprint once in a while or a few jumping jacks. Its just a motivation to want to continue to go out there and workout. We shall see I will keep you all posted. And yeah I am going for another 2 this week we shall see how that goes, I will try my hardest.
And funny you say the thing about mexican, because on friday for my sister's 20th birthday we are going out for mexican, her favorite, and even though I didn't get it yet I am planning on ordering whatever my little heart desires, its only one meal, one day. SO I would agree you are fine and I am glad you enjoyed it. Keep up the good work all!
Yeah, that gadget does sound cool. When I can buy something, I'm going for some five pound free weights for my arm exercises. Today I did my bike and later this eve I took a walk, so I'm good for today! Most of the weight I carry is also on my hips and thighs too. Fri we are having dinner with my son, dau-in-law, and some friends, so I just don't know about this week, we'll see how it shakes out :)
Hey, checking in. My exercise is five for five this week. Re where we carry the weight...I guess we can take some comfort in the fact that hip and thigh weight is supposed to be a less dangerous weight. My sister's an apple, so that's worse I guess, but I wouldn't mind having her legs! Let us know how you like your monitor. Oh, one more thing. Are they considering the hip to waist ratio better than BMI? Maybe we'll come out on top with that???
Of course you can the more support the better!!!....Let us know what your goals are and we are excitied to have you on the team..Goodluck and we are here for you.
I had no weight loss this week, but no gain either!!!
I am really relieved this week was a really bad one for me. I split fries, a pretzel, and a hot dog with my boyfriend, somehow I thought in my mind if I didn't finish any one thing myself it would count against me, but that was dumb. I went to the Phillies game and watched them clinch the division title, so it was fun but snack filled. So after this week I am very glad to stay the same and have no gain.
This coming week is a new and fresh week and I am already on the right path with playing field hockey today and will be playing tomorrow too. So it is never to late to jump back on the wagon.
We can do this team!.....How was everyone elses week, hopefully better than mine?
Well, my week went well re exercise, seven of seven days, but eating wise? NOT SO MUCH! I weighed 130.8 today, point eight above what I consider my "absolute" cutoff. I would much prefer 125, and feel "less stuffed" at that weight. My sis just joined Curves, so she's all excited. She's shooting for four days a week now, so we'll see how she does! Curves is fun I would think, esp for people of my age. Welcome new poster :) P.S. I even walked in nasty, gray, rainy weather today, and drug my dau-in-law with me!

Hey girls today was my weigh in day and I am down 2.2 pounds this week!!!....I made the challenge and am so excitied about it. I currently weigh 136 pounds...and it is the lowest I have been in a while, I think the lowest I was in high school was 135 so just about there. I hope everyone had a good week and hope everyone has an amazing weekend. It will be hard to get my workouts in this weekend because my parents are going on vacation all weekend and I am watching my 9 year old sister and my dog, so we shall see. I have to take her to 2 of her soccers games and I have a field hockey game on sunday that I will be taking her too as well....GOODLUCK
