Really??
I'm not saying the business the OP is referencing does good work or anything--since that is a matter that is always up to the integrity of those involved--but other than that variable, running a small/family business seems like a legit idea and not unethical in its own right. I was raised in one, worked harder before getting out of HS than I likely ever will the rest of my life, and I gotta say from my perspective it's the huge faceless corporations that make my skin crawl because of the ease with which they seem capable of being inhumane in general. I will do anything I can for the rest of my life to avoid ever working for one again. So far so good.

As Petula Clark sang in 1966, "It's the Sign of the Times".
One reason is because of an attempt to right past wrongs, which is a good thing.
Another reason is that two of the biggies, Media & Government, put focus upon a theme and everyone follows suit- it becomes mainstream.
We all play our parts of being either the victim, the savior, or the antagonist. There are other roles, but those are the main characters.

Some of the small places in my area even advertise by nationality — “Good Polish companions and housekeepers!” It gives me a chuckle but we have a large population of neighbors who probably see the ad and feel relieved that they can get care from their culture.

"Everything" doesn't have to be about race, but the title of this post suggests the OP has concerns about lack of diversity in a company. Your posted comment is antagonistic in nature and sarcastic, unhelpful comments followed.
