I have seen small mom and pop home health and hospice companies lack diversity in their staff. Like the company is ran and employed by fellow family members, friends of the family who are like ethnically. I am curious if others see this as a negative thing. I have strayed away from the smaller mom and pop companies just for this reason.
It is interesting that when a member posts a perspective another finds offensive, then the member becomes the antagonist, worthy of negative labels, just because something may have been inferred from a question or statement.
Inference is one reason why passive-aggressive statements are so powerful and elicit negative emotions. The receiver plays the part of a victim and becomes defensive, usually attacking the person and not the premise.

I find you have to watch your paycheck real closely at these places. No corporate structure to fall back on, just the mom, dad or grandpa who is running the place and it's not pleasant dealing with them.

Meant no offense; just commenting about the truth of the area in which I was raised. Still isn't any ethnic diversity there, either. Sorry!
That combo made me laugh! I'm so grateful to have spent so many decades living in the NYC area. You just get use to working with people from around the world every day. It really was a gift.

This post isn't about restaurants, it is about healthcare. It's so absurd to think an educated individual would think like this and to assume restaurants and healthcare are on the same level. This is a snide comment.
I would hate to think I work with people who don't have any compassion for ethnic groups or any minority that has these concerns.

I don't think he was being snide. I seriously doubt it shows him to be lacking in compassion.
I took it as just being a flippant remark: like a few drops of cold water in a hot frying pan, it sizzles and is GONE.

Yea it’s the family and friends that would stop me ?. I mean if anything goes wrong who else is there to blame ha ha ha!
Yup, that’s a NO!

Both are businesses. If I started a company, restaurant or home healthcare business, my first hires are people I know and trust because it is my hard earned money being poured into the business. As the business grows, I will hire the most qualified person for the job regardless of ethnicity. As a patient, I would want the best, most qualified nurse that the company could hire to taking care of me and not be more concerned about her ethnicity than their skill.

I was in Mobile, Alabama in 2017. It was an African-American gentleman who cooked my vegetable fried rice.
