New Jersey City University (NJCU) Accelerated Nursing 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all!

I know it may be a bit early but I like to always get the ball rolling. Is there anyone that is looking to apply to the 2019-2020 accelerated nursing cohort at NJCU?? I'm looking to connect so we can keep each other updated throughout the process.

To those who have submitted their applications, did you send transcripts via mail or electronically? I want to send mine electronically because my school uses parchment, and they lost my first transcript that they mailed.

I spoke to Financial Aid last week and she gave me a better understanding of how much they will cover (For Jersey City cohort). She said the program is about 11k a semester and that financial aid normally covers about $5,000 for Fall and $5,000 for Spring....This leaves a hefty bill & now I'm trying to figure out how I will be able to pay for the rest.

Hey, I thought financial aid wouldn't cover anything at all related to a second bachelors degree. I'm surprised they can cover half.

Hi Maria,

I took all the pre-reqs in two separate semesters, stat and anatomy I in the summer and then anatomy II, micro, and psychology this past fall and finished in December! I took them at empire state college and had a full time job at the same time. Definitely a little time consuming with the labs and writing but honestly not bad at all if you just follow the directions. Everything online was pretty straight forward and the teachers were very lenient and helpful honestly. Yeah I chose to apply to NJCU because they accept online pre req science courses and I wouldn't have to re-take chem ? I would recommend taking online so you can still work!!! I would just keep searching around for other school options that will accept online pre-reqs.

Thanks sooooo much!!!! Good luck to you! Hope you get in!!!!!

Hi all! I’ve been looking through this forum for awhile and decided to finally make an account. I live in NJ and I’m looking to start an accelerated BSN program this year. I applied to four programs, but NJCU is my top choice. Do you think with my stats I’d possibly have a chance? I know this program is very competitive, but I’m praying that I’m accepted (along with you all!).

I went to Rutgers New Brunswick for undergrad (Public Health Major) and graduated with a 3.5 GPA in May 2018. I believe my pre-req GPA is ~3.4, because I got a C in microbiology lecture but a B in the lab during undergrad. However I received an A in A&P I and II and Developmental Psychology, and a B in Statistics. I also have nearly 3 years of patient care experience (I was a medical scribe for 2+ years and currently work for Summit Medical Group). I have letters of recommendation from a nurse practitioner I used to scribe for and my old professor/internship advisor. I also took the HESI yesterday and scored a 91. All I have to do now is complete the essay portion which I’m trying to get done soon since the deadline is soon approaching.

I’ve seen people with great stats on this forum get denied, and I’m just wondering if I have any chance of getting in? I’m trying to remain hopeful. Thanks!

Hey everyone! I've been looking into these accelerated nursing programs for a while and finally decided to apply! I just signed up to take the HESI exam and now I need to send my transcripts...do you send them through Nursing CAS or directly to NJCU admissions?

you have to send everything through Nursing CAS. it takes time to verify so have them sent electronically or as soon as you can !

So after reading all these posts and threads I'm lowkey starting to feel like my chances have diminished, but i must remain hopeful. My credentials are :

B.S in Health Studies with a Public Health minor

GPA:3.01

Pre-Req GPA: 2.89 (which doesn't help me took them at William Paterson University and they are relentless but it helped drill the information in my head)

HESI: trying to shoot for no less than a 90 (taking it on the 18th of February)

Biology (drug abuse+neurobiology) and Public Health research (PrEP and information on YouTube) (1000 hours combined at least), Pharma background (6 months so far), Hospital experience (almost 200 hours), Community Health Fair, and ran 4 clubs during undergrad.

In a pending morificecript for publication

I'm confident in my resume and I believe my letters of recommendations hopefully are as good

Problems I'll face would be with my Transcript and Grades.

Any advice or tips for my personal statement?

Hi everyone, I’ve been following this forum for a while and I decided to post a comment!

I’ve been looking into accelerated BSN programs and njcu is my top choice. I also found out about Caldwell University accelerated BSN, but the deadline is super close (March 1).

I submitted my application to NJCU last month. Does anyone know when we should start hearing back? The nerves are killing me!

Which campus did you applied to?

Wall is around middle of March while Jersey city is 6 weeks after the deadline.

Thanks!! I applied to the jersey city campus. So I’m assuming middle of April. That’s a long way to go...

Taking HESI Feb 20 *fingers crossed for over 90*

Also just curious if anyone here has experience as a scribe or volunteered with united rescue?

I just finished taking the Hesi today. Took about 3 hrs

Reading & Comprehension: 90%

Biology: 96%

Anatomy & Physiology: 92%

Grammer: 92%

Math: 98%

Vocabulary: 92%

Cumulative: 93.3%

Just need to finish personal statement and submit application for Jersey City Campus. My undergrad G.P.A at Rutgers New Brunswick was not great(2.56) from 2011 but my prerequisites are 4.0. I did get accepted for Rutgers A.B.S.N Summer 2019 cohort but I still want to see if NJCU responds back.
