New School Nurse. Help with immunizations!!!!

Published

Hi everyone!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-)

I'm a new nurse got my license in February and landed a job as a school nurse.

I love it!!! Of course it has its ups and downs but enjoying it. I was thrown into the job with no training or where anything was so of course the first week was a little tough. I still have a lot of questions and concerns but most specifically on IMMUNIZATIONS in Texas. I do not have any idea what specific ones a child needs to enter PREK.....HELP!!!!

Where can i look or who can i contact or is there any classes or training on IMMUNIZATIONS?????

Hi anita and welcome. You may want to look at the School Nurse Forum. We have plenty of Texas nurses there who would be happy to point you in the right direction!

I was going to link that, saw it was down, and figured I was doing it wrong.

I'm a new school nurse in Texas too!! Immunizetexas.com has a printable link on their website but its been down the past two days for "emergency maintenance". Do you have a work email? I can send you my PDF file of it that way if you'd like!

Only 1 MMR?

The 2nd dose is required for KG

I'm in Texas too and also landed a school job right out of nursing school (BLESSED)! I pretty much stalk all of the sweet people on here for companionship and advice and to make myself feel like someone understands after a particularly stressful day. You are going to LOVE IT.

Then stay outta my school, Janey!
