New Grad Jobs in North Dakota?

Nurses Job Hunt

I hear North Dakota is hiring even though the housing may be tough.

Is this true? If so which hospital? Do you think a large hospital will hire me as a new grad into the ICU or Med Surg?

I have a BSN but it's been two years since I've had clinical experience (ICU). I have an internship coming up in January but I am hoping to find a job before that or have a job lined up after the internship.

I applied to 15 hospitals in Texas so far and got one interview and two call backs. Interview didn't go anywhere :( and the two hospitals haven't called me back. I am starting to get desperate here and the Job Search was even tougher than I imagined.

HELP!!!!!!!!!! I am willing to go anywhere in the country.

You can try Trinity hospital in minot, ND. They hire new grad nurses and will provide relocation assistance.

The biggest problem is that the housing situation is the worst. So you try that.

In addition to that, if you really want to get a job, you can try this position.

Good luck :)

I would look in Fargo. Earlier in the year they were paying a significant signing bonus for experienced RNs. I couldn't tell you the name of the hospital though. Sorry!

I'm currently a RN student who resides in North Dakota and I can tell you from personal experience there are TONS of opportunities for new grads here. I graduate I May and the recruiting has already started, every clinical I go on the nurse managers are asking me where I want to work and making sure I have their contact information. The housing is tough if you look in Minot as the oil boom has hit that area hard but Fargo and Bismarck and even grand forks the housing is reasonable. I go to my clinically primarily at Trinity in Minot but I'm hoping to look at Sanford in Fargo. I'm originally from Portland Oregon and I would love to move home but the market for new grads is incredibly tough so I have decided it would be worth sticking it out here in ND until I have 2 years experience.. I wish you luck!! If you have any questions about the area or the hospitals let me know....

Hi Kcaudle,

Thank you so much for your reply! I didn't realize the opportunity was that great out there. Are teaching hospitals recruiting too and would they hire a new grad into the ICU? Ideally, I would like to do a two years of ICU at a teaching hospital in ND before moving back to California.

Can you tell me some names of the hospitals (esp teaching) that I can apply for? Probably in Fargo and Bismarck area where housing is reasonable :) Thank you so much!

p.s. I get the missing home part, I am in California trying to move out because of the job market :( Hang in there, just two more years :)

Hey any luck in finding a job in North Dakota as a new grad? I graduated back in December 2012 and finding a job here in California is impossible! I've also tried applying in Louisiana and Texas, but no luck so far. Let me know if you had any luck with North Dakota. You can email me at [email protected] . Hope to hear from you soon.

Sanford Health in Bismarck will hire new grads. Heck I applied on a Saturday and a nurse manager called me about a position on Monday. Decided against moving since I had an offer for a local job here, but . . .

I sent some of my résumé to North Dakota but I live in louisiana. Trying to move north. Will they even look at my résumé or should I apply to North Dakota and move and apply again
