New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

thanks for the info... i think i will inquire again on monday.. can't wait for april to get an update again... but we do need to be patient...

just got an email from wa last week which read..

"[color=#454545]your application has now been escalated for final approval. please note, as every application is assessed on its own merits, a time frame cannot be guaranteed.[color=#454545]please await for notification regarding the outcome of your assessment."

hoping to receive a good news this late first quarter or if not maybe this april?

patience..patience... :-)

That is a real amazing thing for me to see Silverdragon (about NZ).

I used to live in WA up until two years ago, and they have now got so many Indian, African and Asian nurses brought specifically from other countries, that there are NO JOBS there available for any Australian Nurses now.

It is an absolute joke!

i have a Master's degree in Critical care and also a background as a NUM and I couldn't get a job in WA so we moved to QLD where I was also considered "too educated"...can you believe it???

In a rural hospital, I applied for a DON position but I did not get it. The nurse who got it had NEVER been in charge of a shift, let alone as a DON. She has NO clinical skills and has never worked in Emergency Dept. She refuses to be on call even though the other staff are very junior.

Since she was employed there in October 2010;

* She was pulled over and fined for DUI in the hospital's car

* She then walked to the hospital and got the spare set of keys and was caught driving it drunk again the same night. She was flown to Roma the next day to "explain" but nothing happened.

* Commnity have placed in complaints to QLD about her public drinking and having sex with numerous married men from the town (population of about 270 in town).

* She has been "stood down" for 6 months to prove she has ANY clinical skills when the doctor in town complained about her not knowing anything during an emergency.

* She was caught snorting cocaine.

QLD have still kept her in the DON position. Can you believe it? I'm just thankful I am not in QLD anymore and working for such a bad health department.

I think there are a lot of nursing jobs but hospitals just do not advertise. They say they advertised ONCE and nobody replied. Well that is no good for people looking.

Working in the NT is great! I worked in Alice Springs twice and they are ALWAYS looking for staff, as are Darwin. Perhaps you should contact the NY health dept for a job.

good luck! :)

hi irin! when did you send your application to AHPRA WA? :)

@aila61 Hello! I sent my application to AHPRA WA last week of October they received it Nov 1st 2011.

Thanks you aila61. I am for IHNA Perth Campus june 4th intake.

Hi ned1968,

have you or anyone you know checked out the IHNA campus? my mom is worried about the credibility of the institution because it's not a university. Would you know if there are hospital tie-ups we can work at after the program? So happy to hear your news! Good luck and God bless in your studies!

hi irin! sent you a pm :)
In my opinion, its better that you choose Australia since their economy is much better and the salary is also better, but do keep in mind that the cost of living and tax maybe more expensive... But based on my friends assessment you can save more in Australia...

thanks for the reply..well, right now, my application is already on its final approval..hoping to get positive result asap..thanks again..=)

Hi guys.. does the CON have already choosen the applicants for the may intake? Thank you very much

hi irin! sent you a pm :)

Hi Aila61 I've already replied to your PM :)

yes AAON is cricos registered. they suggested that i apply for 456 because it is easier and faster, but as per migration specilaist's advise i applied for 575.

hi ailene313!

so AAON is fine with the 456 visa but this isn't feasible as per your agent? what's a 575 visa and have you started processing it already? sorry for being too nosy. Also, will the immigration provide me right away with the HAP ID upon application of visa? And once I get this HAP ID, is this what i need in order to commence with my medicals? thank you so much in advance! =)

are they (CON) going tonhave june intake? is this for real? i thought theyre just pushing through the may inatke..tia.

hello! as per CON's contact person, next intake is on july. do you have any idea if we need to email them the immunisation records together with other required documents when you apply to them initially for BP or can the immunisation records be sent on a later date? tia =)
