Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Ah i see. Yes, that will save a lot of money. Ive already applied for the melbourne campus since i dont have relatives in either places. Hope there are filipinos there as well. Good luck to all of us :)I twhat I though was most of IHNA enrolees prefer Melbourne than Perth. I only knew jayvincible is in Perth Campus next month. I decided Perth since my Aunt lives there and hshe let me stay with her while I will be on my BP with IHNA (pretty much save accomodation and foods).. Hopefully to have more filipino mates during my BP.Ah okay, yes that would save a lot of money :) ive already applied for the melbourne campus. I hope there will be filipinos there as well :)Goodluck and Godbless!

"thank you for your recent enquiry regarding transferring your application from wa to sa office.
as you received a notification from wa office advising your application has now been escalated for final approval, i would strongly recommended that you keep your application form in wa for finalising. transferring the hard copy of the documentation from wa to sa office can impact on processing time.
in sa, we process applications in chronological order, from the date the documentation was received. in your situation this would be from the date we received your documentation in s.a.
the standard timeframe for the assessment of registrations is from 3-6 months. however every application is assessed on its own merits therefore this time frame is only a guide and cannot be guaranteed. so therefore, by transferring your application from wa to sa office, we cannot guarantee that we will complete the assessment in time for your bridging course this may 2012.

no reply yet from ahpra vic. but i have decided stick it out with ahpra-wa. patience, patience, patience. :)
thanks for the info... i think i will inquire again on monday.. can't wait for april to get an update again... but we do need to be patient...
Hi..i would like to ask which country is better when it comes to living, study and work..is it australia or new zealand? actually, i'm already waiting for my letter of approval from APHRA..but right now, i'm still thinking of new zealand as another option..hope someone could give me some idea regarding this matter..thank you..
In my opinion, its better that you choose Australia since their economy is much better and the salary is also better, but do keep in mind that the cost of living and tax maybe more expensive... But based on my friends assessment you can save more in Australia...
Is a 456 visa really faster than a student visa? Based on what I've read here, it still takes people generally a month to get their 456 visa. I haven't really checked the processing time on the website for the 456 but for the student visa, it said that it will only take 14 days because non-award is assessment level 1, although I think the total time will probably take more time than that.
I think I can file for a visa around the 1st week of April or if I can't make it due to the holy week holidays, the 2nd week of April. I'm supposed to be in Aus by the end of May. Is this enough time for a student visa? Or should I just get a 456? I will be filing this on my own by the way.
The reason I ask is that 2 agencies I have gone to have said that the time is too short and I might not be able to make it. Any information would be much appreciated.

Hi! I think it would depend on how long the duration of your course is. If your course is for 2 months only, I suggest you get a 456 visa. It is way cheaper. And about the processing time, I'm not sure how long it will take if you are just going to do a Nursing BP. But in my previous case (Vocational course - Assessment level 3 if I'm not mistaken), my visa was granted after 3 months.
God is soo good that he answers all my prayers... Just today I received my Business visa 456 grant letter. They just sent a visa grant letter and did not label my passport as what their new rule is.Here is my timeline for my visa appliaction:
Feb 17 - Lodged my visa here in cebu thru the Via Center
Feb 20- received a confirmation thru text that my documents was received by Aussie Embassy
it tiook them awhile to send HAP I.D for my mediacls so I e-mailed them for a follow up
luckily they replied March 5
March 6- done my medicals @ Nationwide Health System Cebu
March 12- Medicals was forwarded to Aussie Embassy
March 23- received the most awaited Visa and decision date was March 21.
thankk you for those who helped answering questions, keeping theinspiration me from the start until now and to those who unconditionally extend their prayers., godbless us all in our Aussie dreams..
Happy Sabbath Day!
Hi! Whereabouts are you going to take your BP?
does CON still accept applicants for their june intake? do they still have a separate intake on july? :) and for those who did CON, do we have to email them right away our immunisation records with our other docs during the initial application or can we just send our immunisations as to follow?
Hi! I'm not sure if they have a "supplemental" intake in june but they have an advertised intake in july 16, 2012.
Thanks for the info! For the certificate of good standing, I should make arrangements for PRC to send it directly to AHPRA, right? Or could I just get one and attach it along with the other requirements?
Directly lifted from the AGOS-40 form:
You must arrange for the testing authority to provide evidence of your successful completion of the Board approved English language test directly to the relevant State or Territory office of AHPRA.
i need some helpful suggestions please...im waiting for the visa support letter from CON for me to be able to commence with my visa application...but since im really eager to have the con may intake do you guys think applying a tourist visa may help??? i have my mum and sister who are permanently residing in aistralia..they can invite me to come over...please give me reliable ideas thanks :)
So you're planning to do the May intake under a tourist visa? You must at least be sure that you get a 2-month tourist visa. The last time my mother went to Australia, she only got a 1 month tourist visa. I think you have better chances of getting a longer duration if you had been visiting Australia before.
But then again, I'm not so sure on this.
hi again!! while waiting for the loe, what vaccine shall i get first?will you guys advise me what vaccines i should be receiving if I'll be enrolling in CON?
thank you for your kindness guys, you never tires to post information regarding with the application process.
Here is a link on the Immunization Guidelines of CON. Pay special attention to Information Sheet 2. I just presented that sheet when I had my serology tests, booster shots, etc. in Sydney.
