New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

I'll be submitting mine this week. :)

wow.. im a little confuse of the questions in the form.... did you have any assistance while filling them up?

Best of Luck to @unaduand and @anyad!!!:yeah::cheers::w00t:

i hope someone can clarify things for me.... im not sure but i think i have read from the previous post that nbv does not require hospital experience for you to be enrolled in a BP like in la trobe uni

hey, Newmac, Reiken and my other batchmates...any news on you NBV application?

Hi, heartblock!

When you submitted your Philippine credentials to the University of Ballarat, did the school tell you right away that the BNP-BN was the appropriate path for you, and that you can expect no glitches along the way? I'm just wondering if the school will assess my credentials in the same way as yours... I have a US Associate Degree in Nursing and hold a US RN license. Is your program applicable to all foreign RNs regardless of the number of years spent on nursing school? I do have a previous Bachelor of Science degree (non-nursing) - would that help in any way to make up for my merely 2 years in nursing school? Any thoughts?

Thanks! Would appreciate a response from you. :-)

HI alex88

try to email University of Ballarat for the assessment of your credentials.. i can refer you to a person that you can posts your queeries but at the moment i can't PM you as i need more posts in this website.. so try general inquiry for international students in UB.. The progam i think is applicable to all foriegn RNs regardless of number of years spent in nursing school. as i have classmates from India who only have a diploma in nursing.. they spent about 2 yrs in nursing wherein to spend another year, would be a degree for them...
