New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
hello again! @ Ceridwyn...I have been offered a job already and I have accepted the offer. Hoping to start in May or June once 457 visa is issued. I feel very privileged to have landed this position. @joiemike...if you have ER nursing experience of more than one year, that would be an advantage. Fortunately for me, I had almost two years work experience as ER Nurse. I believe that it will also depend on the demand at the time you are applying. However, from what I have observed, it is difficult for nurses without at least a year's experience to get hired in Aussie..that is just my observation. And I have observed also that work visa sponsorships are offered to those with specialized skills, mostly in OR/Scrub/Theater or ICU or Mental health, Aged Care and ER. With your background, I am positive you will be able to reach your goal, too. Best of luck. @fishbowl... timeline...hmmm, I started applying for eligibility sometime in February last year, I think (I actually forgot)..that was before the changes from AHPRA, what I am sure is that it took me less than two months to get my eligibility letter from NBV. Then I applied for BP in May, got accepted at ETEA and chose their September 2010 intake. We had an early exit in November 2010. Had a great vacation time with my family in Melbourne entire month of December 2010. I went home to the Philippines before christmas 2010 to rest. But I already started applying for jobs in December 2010. Got the ER job offer in March 2011. Basically, that's my timeline so far. Again, my sincerest thanks to all who have helped and guided me, directly or indirectly, in my goal to be an Aussie nurse and best of luck to all those on their way to fulfilling theirs. This forum rocks!

Now, I am a licensed Aussie nurse and on my way to working as an ER nurse in a bayside hospital in Victoria. To everyone planning to take the BP in Aussie, best of luck. With perseverance, skills and determination, I know you will all do great.

I just got my AHPRA registration number yesterday. Im now in the Philippines for Christmas. I have more than 2 years nursing experience. However, I think Ceridwyn's suggestion makes a lot of sense..will try to consider this route also. Best of luck guys and gals! Happy holidays, everyone!

@summer88 and mikyong...thanks!:) those who were hired from our batch (two of them actually) were hired by different hospitals, not Kilmore, though. I went to several job interviews, however, they asked for my registration before they could seriously consider me. my two classmates were really lucky to have been hired even pending their registration. as for me, I am planning to return to the Philippines for christmas..then come back here in Australia early 2011 to continue my job hunting...keeping my fingers crossed. To all those who are on their way to do their BP, best of luck to you, guys and gals! Im sure you'll all do fine. :)

@rncoco and summer88 Im recommending ETEA because I went there for the BP and we really learned a lot. Plus, the educators have been very helpful. summer88, yup, I finished my BP in November. Early exit. Had our clinicals at Kilmore. Still waiting for AHPRA, though. Im still job hunting. some of my classmates have been hired, though, even pending their AHPRA registration, but they have to get their license before they can commence work..hopefully we'd get our registration soon..all in all, it's been good.

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
hi, this is drednag's wife. drednag is now in australia (maybe sleeping from that long flight as of this moment hehehehe)..anyway, i know a little about the application for 456..so here it goes: there really is just one golden rule for filling up of forms: be truthful, never ever misdeclare anything. that said... for the question asking if one intends to enter australia on more than one occasion, for drednag's case, he answered yes because a 456 visa allows you only to be in australia for 3 months. and the bp takes approximately 3 months, so you have to exit australia after the bp. but, in drednag's case, he needed to be back in australia after the bp to process his application for registration. so, he answered yes. as a result, he was given a multiple entry 456 visa. [color=#483d8b]on your employment details ( this is just my opinion) since a nurse trainee is not an employed nurse nor a self-employed nurse, then you should not check that portion. i gather you are not employed in areas other than nursing, right? and you also do not have your own business? then answer no if there is a box for that or if none, leave that portion blank for the simple reason that you have no employment details. [color=#483d8b]i wish you all the best in your application. :)

Hey, there, here in Davao, I went to Dra. Torno for the immunisations..but I think I've discussed this with cioman already. As for your question, salmonella..I am really not sure if that will have an effect on your application, better inform them and ask directly. As long as the Certification states that you have had the immunisation and/or history of the disease, I guess it's good to go..there really is no required form for it..of course, the doctor has to state his/her license number etc, the usual information they disclose in medical certifications. These are just my personal opinion, though..it would be best if your check with others with more expertise on the matter. Just keep kewl, guys!!! all the best to all of you!!:rckn:

Best of luck to everyone!
