Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
@ NewMac & drednag: Fret not guys! I know we all (us three) wanted to get into Deakin but we have no control to hasten the application process to be able to make it to the school's deadline. Sadly, looks like the school has closed on us, hasn't it? But that doesn't mean we're stuck with nothing else...Just bear in mind that we may go to the school of our choice but if things do not go the way we planned, then we may just opt to go to the next best thing in our list... What's more important is we should be able to make it there regardless of where we take our courses. The "Big Guy" up there will lead us to the next available welcoming door. So, hang in there... Remain steadfast and keep our heads up, guys!!!

Correct!
@chabeli and to everybody who knows the answer...
when do we actually pay the school? is it before application of student visa or after successful approval of the student visa?
i know the school should give us a "certificate/paper" that is part of the requirements for student visa. [curiosity]
@silverdragon: Yup I'm aware that obtaining a work permit in the UK is quite hard, but my classmates in college who eventually became my coleagues in the Hospital were quite successful in thier UK venture, most of them are already working for the NHS, lucky them hehehe. If they were able to succeed why can't I? we almost practically have identical creds.Hopefully I'll get my big break soon. There's no harm in trying...
Thanks for the heads up!
ploy_jam, i think you could still go back to PRC to have the address changed..that is if they still have your cert..better do it sooner ok..I also have one application for UK, the problem is it would take 4-5mos before you have the NMC decision on hand..hopefully NBV decision would take a shorter time becz my IELTS is nearing its expiry date...that is why I have to make a decision NOW!!!..
I don't think that I can still do that twins05, I think they have already mailed it to the Po box address.only thing I can do is hope that the cert of good standing will reach NBV.....
Just be optimistic twins pursue with the NMC registration anyways, who knows that's were your luck lies. Even if your IELTS expires DURING the processing period whats important is that you were able to submit it to them during your application before it will expire.Someone told me that long ago but I didnt listen, I took another IELTS because mine got expired, if only I acted sooner.
JUst be positive always... negativity will get you nowhere...trust me hehe I learned that the hard way

How long ago was it they applied and obtained UK work permit as a nurse? Currently the UK has high unemployment and to work in the UK NHS you need to be experienced in an area that is classed on the shortage job occupation list.
to newmac :
Yes, the electronic cert of enrollment will be given by the school after you paid your course fee. it needs to be full payment. pls make sure you have at least 2 months to process your student visa because it's also taking too long... as soon as you have your letter of offer, pay right away (fastest is through credit card) then they will email your eCOE within the day then , pass your student visa application right away...
the australian embassy in manila is processing an average of 100 student visas everyday from the whole philippines, and it is a first come first serve basis...so even if your classes start ahead of the others, they will still follow the application lodgement date.
this is so funny...:rotfl:i called NBV again today and assured that the person who will entertain me will be different from the one yesterday. and this is the reply i got : "No changes yet since you called yesterday." I paused for five seconds and asked her if she was the one i spoke with yesterday -as i fully remember the lady's name as something else. and she said: "No, we put notes everytime an applicant calls."
[for some reason i felt embarrased]

Makes me wonder why do they need to put note everytime an applicant calls. [Quality Assurance?] I hope it doesnt have any implications whatsoever.
ok time to sleep..... zzzzzzzzzzz......
HI NewMac;
Is this the number you call to reach NBV? Thanks.
Registration only enquiries
Telephone: +61 3 8635 1200
Facsimile: +61 3 8635 1214
Email: [email protected]
@jakey yes that's the number, sometimes i use the direct line that is indicated in their email responses.
@chabeli... processing time won't be a problem i guess, [i sincerely hope so] as i won't be filing my visa application in the phil. and students here are assessment level 1 so i guess the aus embassy here is not processing much, but they still say 1 month. but thanks for the advise anyway.
Payment. that means i have to tighten my belt "big time" because i have to deduct my tuition fee from my "show money" for the financial requirements. I should've anticipated this thing long ago... grrrr....!
