Room 827 - Nursing Ghost Story Article
When I was still in nursing school, we would sometimes be assigned to district hospitals located an hour away from the city. There we heard stories from the staff meant to scare us. I figured, it's just their way of 'welcoming' us that I never even gave it much thought. One night, during our evening break at about 11pm... since we were not that familiar with the nooks & crannies of the wing yet, we asked a nurse on duty the way to the canteen. She said she's also on a break herself, we cud go with her to the canteen. We followed her, chatting silently behind her. She told us that we'll be going to a short cut, that we never doubted why she'd lead us near the newly-constructed building. Then she said, she'll just hurry out ahead of us 'coz she'll be meeting someone...then out she went through the door. We were stunned. Just stunned. Later, we were told that she was really a nurse then in the hospital. It's just that she still thinks she is.

To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..
i do hope someone here helps u... did u try calling all cap providers stated on the ncnz website? btw, hi everyone! i really gained a lot of tips, insights just by reading this thread... now, after downloading some docs from ncnz and reading all those helpful posts, cud someone here please please advise us re: cap placements... what happens then if we too face the same problem as the post above? as stated on ncnz... "due to the high demand for places in the competency assessment programmes, there is a current waiting time of over 12 months to get into most of these. there may be instances where a person who has been informed they need to complete a competency assessment programme, may not be able to gain entry into one within the timeframe / life of their application." stage one registration process i have read that one must have some docs authenticated by dfa manila, nz embassy. but i could not find the exact statement in the app-join-nz-register-26may10.pdf or the guide-april11.pdf . it says only that "all documents must be either original or certified as true copy of the original by a solicitor, justice of the peace, notary public, etc" i'm asking this since i am here in iloilo city, we do have a local dfa office here. but as mentioned in the previous posts, only dfa manila& nz embassy can authenticate docs...btw what docs needs to be 'red ribboned'? i really cant find it here...yet... appeal after being denied it's good that some got positive results but how did u 'explain' your case? i'm really interested. i'm not a second courser. i'm a shifter but i have a very messy transcipt. i really wanted to be a nurse coz my mom is also a nurse. but when i took up nsg then (1996) we were only 20 in a class. some teachers wud even suggest that we shift to a different course... later after 2 years of nsg, i did shift to bs bio but did not finish it due to financial problems. then last 2005 i again enrolled and took up a 4yr bsn course (the school insisted i take all subjects except pe, because they have a different course description, etc, etc) if i do sum it up i did spend 6 years in nursing sch! i'm thinking i may have problems with this. i do hope someone cud help clear these things up. :heartbeat:redbeathe br,

hospitals hiring volunteer since the issue in senate
Here in Iloilo, tertiary hospitals like WVSUMC and WVMC would still accept volunteers for a fee. It's called an 'enhancement' program. However these programs would only accept nurses who had IV therapy trainings. There are openings this summer. *IV therapy training in WVSUMC is 1,800 php, in Iloilo Mission it's 2,000 php. WVMC would offer trainings this Apr, for 3day orientation (just orientation) they charge 500 php. The problem is, in order to attend these IV therapy trainings, a PRC card is required. We all know that PRC would only give out 'claim stubs' after initial application. There would be at least 6months waiting period for the card. So it means, for nurses who recently passed the NLE this DEC. We would have to wait for 6 mos for the PRC card, before we cud start looking for a slot in IVT training. Now I hear there are at least hundreds in waiting list already in WVSUMC. BTW in Iloilo MIssion hosp. they call this volunteer program 'Skill Enhancement Program for RNs'. Though, it's really exploitation by hospitals here in our country to ask for a fee so RNs could have entry level positions. It's a sad fact. I, myself, though i do question these programs must comply. Or else the skills, knowledge I had learned after 4 years of BSN, plus mos of review just for the coveted passing grade in NLE would be rusty after say, a year or 2 of jobs unrelated to nursing.

Assessment of nursing degree from the Philippines
"I would recommend that you organize the immigration process first, then near the time when you will be immigrating, apply to a college, then order your transcripts and submit your language test.". @mjcanada, hi! M actually planning to take the IELTS soon. But m not sure what test to take. For immigration purpose, it says i hav to take the General training test, CRNM however requires Academic. What do u think? Thanks
