  1. Is there a governing body for educational institution in Canada where one can check accreditation and legality of a school ?
  2. Thanks for your reply SilverDragon. You are always a big help . So, from your expert opinion do you think they are just hoaxing nurses here in the Philippines with the various different Study and work programs being offered ? Do you have a link of the institution that you mentioned that you did online IEN ?
  3. Royal Canadian Institute of Technology Any comments and feed-backs regarding this educational institution ? http://www.rcit.edu/ http://www.rcit.edu/programs-and-courses/registered-nurses-licensure-preparation-program/ on facebook Royal Canadian Institute of Technology and Royal Canadian Institute of Technology - Education Consultancy They are advertising in newspapers and in the internet here in the Philippines. Promising a Study and work program in Vancouver, Canada.
  4. Can you refer or suggest a good consulting firm ? Thank you.
  5. @SilverDragon: The Pass Mark for FSW is 67. If I go with the RN profession I score at 61. Scoring less than the passing mark means that I can not apply as a FSW or I am still able ? Please Enlighten me. The Breakdown: Education 20 -(Finished 4 year Bachelors Degree) Language Ability 16 (English ) Work Experience 15 (1+ year of work experience) Age 10 (21-49) Total = 61 **Will I be able to use an LMO not related to the nursing profession. An LMO for a caregiver. Since If I can use that LMO my score will just to 76 points. Since, Arranged employment I will get 10 points, and an additional 5 points for Adaptability from the LMO. @CarribRN If you did not get the required 67 points as an RN under FSW, I guess that means you didn't score enough as well to apply as a restaurant and food service manager, unless you scored yourself incorrectly. I suggest you double check and assess yourself again and see if you did the right scoring. Applying as a PR under FSW is still a lot better than coming to Canada as a caregiver. You might have missed this but take note that should you decide to apply as an RN under FSW, even though you only have 1 year experience on this, you can still claim additional points for your 4-year experience as a restaurant manager thus enabling you to get the maximum allotted points for work experience. --- Can you explain how I can claim additional points for my 4year experience as a restaurant manager ? I can't seem to find it at the Canadian immigration website. Can you give a link ? Thank you . :)
  6. @Silverdragon: I only have a year of experience as a nurse and this does not give me enough points to qualify and apply as FSW as a registered nurse. I can apply as a restaurant and food service manager though or apply as a caregiver ... What do you suggest ? Thanks
  7. hi guys can someone help me with my dilemma? i am a registered nurse in the philippines. i graduated last march 2010 and passed the board exam last july 2010. i am looking to immigrate to canada and from reading canada's immigration website i am qualified for the federal skilled workers program. i am qualified either to apply under the restaurant and food service managers ( i worked in the industry for 4 years while in nursing school) and under registered nurse (1 year hotel clinic experience). i recently met a canadian national who is willing to hire me as a caregiver for his mom in toronto, ontario. my question is do i apply as a skilled worker or as a caregiver ? what is my best option ? can i apply as a skilled worker and use the lmo as a caregiver ? can i do that ? or if i apply as a skilled worker then the only lmo i can use for my application needs to be related to what skill i applied under ? please enlighten me guys ... thank you in advance!!!

  10. Come on!! All of the informations are posted already. Just read ... and get yourself moving before you will feel sorry that the slots are all gone. Be Proactive !! Best way to get there : LRT - go down at UN station , If still you can't see the big sign of the hospital , then ASK AROUND .. good luck !
  11. You can sign up first for your slot then just inform them at the office that the documents that you do not have are to be followed. Medical Clearance can be done at any hospital. =)
  12. If you really want to be prepared. This might help :loveya: http://career-advice.monster.com/job-interview/interview-preparation/interview-cheat-sheet/article.aspx?WT.mc_n=yta_fpt_article_cheat_sheet
  13. My friend who went through the process last year informed me that basically the interview is more on the common job interview questions you undertake. Examples: 1. Tell me about yourself 2. Why you took up nursing 3. Goal 5 years from now 4. Most difficult situation encountered, how you handled it, what was the result , etc It depends on the mood of the interviewer, sometimes it will be friendly chitchat. To be safe brush up on your basic nursing skills. Maybe read up on your Nursing fundamentals ... hehe My bet, it will be just getting to know questions. Don't forget to smile and if you can joke a little to lighten up the mood. Goodluck. =)
