Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi i'm a newbie here!!!I also am a recruit by allied international manpower. I was also told, like ploy_jam that I would be working as an enrolled nurse in OZ for 3mos, after which I would be interviewed and evaluated..if I passed then blue tongue would process my registration as an RN. My question is, is this also a valid pathway to becoming an RN? Because all the while I thought we overseas registered nurses have to undergo a bridging prog or CAS to be an OZ RN. Any reactions please...

Sorry, but I doubt this pathway.... I am here in Melbourne, and have talked with the NBV and my course administrators, they never mentioned this pathway in becoming RN in Australia.

I agree with Farah. Also,You need to finish a diploma of nursing which will take you 18 month full-time to finish or at least a 2nd year australian nursing student to be able to work as an EN. I was thinking of studying diploma in nursing but its not on the skilled occupation list and general skilled migration, your only option is a 457visa(temporary business sponsorship) which last up to 4 years.
Yes you're right, overseas trained nurse have to undergo BP in most states or CAS in QLD to be an Aus. RN.
THANKS ALOT FARAH AND UNADUNAD for your help!!:thankya::thankya::thankya::thankya::thankya: I really, really appreciate it!!
unadunad, yes I will be issued a 457 visa, thank God! is it possible then that if what they said will not push thru, could I just apply for a bridging course while I work as an EEN? Is this allowed under a 457 visa also?
hi twins5 how is your application with allied going? did you already contact the PRC for the certificate of good standing? what address did you use? the postal or the office address? I used the Postal address, I hope it reaches them the soonest time possible. Were you there too during the orientation at allied's office?
Its nice to know that I'm not alone in this.I'll be sending my documents to allied this week. hope we can be in contact more so that we can discuss different matters regarding our application.
hoping to hear from you
hi ploy_jam!I haven't started my application yet because I am still on deep thought about continuing my application...or maybe I was just waiting for someone to start, hehe!! so, what made you push through? Anyways, I was told that I should send the cert. of good standing thru NBV's office address, not their postal one..And yes,i'll add you in my facebook...thanks!!
Anybody out there applying for allied too...come and join!!!
OMG! I sent mine thru the PO box address, does that mean that my cert of good standing wont reach them? tsk3x major mistake! I was also wondering if my RLE number of hours be sufficeint? (2,142 hrs.). well honestly I also applied for the UK (NMC) hehehe depends on who will faster be with the processing.I'm literally scattergunning my CV to almost every agency that I find.In that way I hope more opportunities will open up for me.hehehhe!

Even if you get through the NMC you are aware that it is very hard to get a work permit to work in the UK as a nurse?
ploy_jam, i think you could still go back to PRC to have the address changed..that is if they still have your cert..better do it sooner ok..I also have one application for UK, the problem is it would take 4-5mos before you have the NMC decision on hand..hopefully NBV decision would take a shorter time becz my IELTS is nearing its expiry date...that is why I have to make a decision NOW!!!..

Hi again everyone!
I am currently thinking of getting a student visa and take up the Certificate IV for Aged Care in AIAS (located in Brisbane, QLD).. The course will run for only 3 months.. Do you think I can find bridging courses easier when i'm there already? at least i would be able to start earning and support myself compared to me staying here in the Philippines..?
And is it easy to find an Aged Care facility that would be willing to hire me when i get there? How much is the minimum wage for Australia? Thanks again everyone.
