New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hey guys, i hope someone can take time to answer. Just wondering, how come no one's interested in doing the BP in NSW? What's the advantage of doing it in Victoria than in NSW? Please, please kindly answer me... someone... anyone..?

thanks chabeli,

woke up @ 5am local time here i called ETEA: ETEA's BP course is NOT CRICOS registered. and the april and may intakes are full already BUT they are still accepting applicants to put on waiting list as they are currently working on increasing their clinical placement.

Hi chocokat,I guess most overseas applicant pick Victoria over NSW because VIC have plenty of BP providers to choose from while NSW has only one and their is a possibility that your application for competency assessment/bp will be refuse.

hi NewMac, that's good news for me! I'm planning to enrol my mum in ETEA as they've got a lot of dates to choose from. Drawback is it's just too far from where I live.. But anyway, it can be worked out. Thanks for that... I'm just waiting my mum to take her IELTS and hopefully she could enrol either 25th of October or 31st of January..

Hi! I am new here. I am also planning to apply in Victoria. Some of documents are ready but I really have few problems. CanIi just use my PRC license as an evident of my initial registration since my board certificate is still not release? I read some parts of the thread about the Statutory Declaration about being unemployed. Hows it done? And can I send it with my application and other requirements? What are the vaccines needed for they to accept you? I'm getting confused:( Thanks a lot!

THANKS ALOT FARAH AND UNADUNAD for your help!!:thankya::thankya::thankya::thankya::thankya: I really, really appreciate it!!

unadunad, yes I will be issued a 457 visa, thank God! is it possible then that if what they said will not push thru, could I just apply for a bridging course while I work as an EEN? Is this allowed under a 457 visa also?

457 is an employer sponsored visa thus you need to commit most of your time working for them and i'm pretty sure BP courses are full-time,so,I believe it's not possible. All the best =)

how about these professional/occupational training visas? :)

how about these professional/occupational training visas? :)

Who is this visa for?

This visa is for people from outside Australia who want to improve their occupational skills through training with an Australian organisation or government agency. People may be nominated for this visa if the proposed occupational training is one of the following:

  • training or practical experience in the workplace required for the person to obtain registration for employment in their occupation in Australia or in their home country
  • a structured workplace training program to enhance the person's existing skills in an eligible occupation
  • structured workplace training to enhance the person's skills and promote capacity building overseas

:yeah:

newmac and jjeethh and reiken:

the finacial requirement of 18,000 aud is for 1 year so you can prorate it if your course is just 3 months. that means divide 18k by 4 then that's about what you need to show.

@ reiken :

by the way, our visa does not have the "no further stay" label :) and yet it is 575

kewl! thanks, chabeli and gf

:yeah:

so as nurses doing the BP we are qualified. [?] thats a period and question mark. so.... are we?:clown:

when i searched the immi.gov.au website this is one of the visa options for nurses. if ETEA is not cricos registered and you cannot apply for a student visa and you dont want to use/apply for a tourist because of its restrictions [not allowed to work and 3-month validity], then maybe you can apply for this one, but etea has to help you right?:D

arrrggghhhh... i should ask next time if they assist in applying for this visa since their BP is not cricos registered hence one can not apply for a student visa. They sound nice by the way, accommodating and willing to find/offer solutions/alternatives. [so, i hope they do assist. -for a fee maybe/most probably :(] i hope im not having wishful thinking.:D

then.

I called NBV today. Sh*ne: "Newmac, we received your application last Jan. 8* and the only thing I can tell you is that your application is under assessment. Unfortunately, the board can not specify when you assessment result will be sent you."

[sigh] i hope this is not an SOP answer. well, :idea:i guess its not, because the last time i called, Mel*s* said: "the only thing i can tell you is that we have received you application, verification and ielts result" -that was sometime last week.

*Jan 8 refers to the time the NBV system recognized the receipt of my ielts result. They received and recognized my application and verification earlier than that. So i guess your papers are actually gonna "move" only when they received the complete requirements.:uhoh3:

and.

I forgot to ask if I already have a case manager.

P.S.

Initially, I was 26th in queue. :p:uhoh3:

hey guys..... can anybody answer my questions... i'm currently choosing between la trobe and curtin uni..but also searching for the cheapest uni that offers BP....and is there anybody out here who already have finished a BP lets say in curtin or in la trobe(how many days of class per week?) Thank you

currently reading the pathway for visa 442... a bit "complex" i must say and the time frame, money and sponsor may be of concern -that's a lot. :(
