Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
hi! bro, thanks for the wishes and inspiring words you shed. and the picture too..mabuhay ang pilipino.
"you're the only thorn among the roses". hehehe i'm pretty sure you will reach to finish line. good luck too all of you.
@ ryan
in fairness!! so all the other filipinos are ladies? or all the rest in class? :)
nice pic! when and where is your first clinical placement? do you have classmates that do not have a post grad work experience as nurse also?
@ newmaci cannot really answer your question lol =)
surely, the 20 hours work will ease your expenses. but personally i wouldn't care if it is a student visa, tourist visa or occupational trainee visa as long as i finish the bp program and get a license.hehe
from gf :)
guys, if you're not bringing along a partner or spouse, you don't have to get the student visa (it's 19500 visa fee compared to 3800 visa fee of a visitor visa. your classes are full time and whole day from 8am to 5pm and you wouldn't really find a job. we got a student visa for me, so i can find work :) not really for chabeli.
and i don't even have work yet, lol. what i'm trying to say is it's not as easy to find work here bec if you ever have a work permit, some of the part time jobs are permanent part time, which means they need you for a year or something and then they look at your current visa and like our case it's only 4 months... student visa is only course duration plus 1 month... so more or less you land the casual jobs. it's different for ryan's case bec he is a pr already and some part time jobs would even require you to be a pr or a citizen.
if you're the only one coming, you can just get a visitor visa because they can even give you 6 months or 1 year validity. state in your reason that you will take a bp as required by nbv for registration as nurse then you need time to process registration and then to find work as a div i nurse.
do not consider working while you are doing your bp. it's not gonna be wise and practical. anyway , the bp is just 3 months. might as well focus on it. so sad to say, you will really use your show money here for daily expenses...
just my opinion .... :)
@ Ryan wow!!! u guys look happy! what sort of paper works do u do by the way? do u have classmates that are 2nd coursers that doesnt have work experience?
@ drednag i sent my application along with my documents last week. i suppose i should wait a month or two for their reply.
@ chabeli gf thanks for the update and suggestions!
@unadunad i always post my updates [every phone call i make to nbv and course providers]
@chabeli i appreciate that suggestion. but if i will use a tourist visa, each entry is valid for 3 months only im afraid that time isnt sufficient enough as the countdown will start the moment you step your foot in tullamarine. the bp course itself is 3months already.
"this visa allows business people to make a short business visit to australia for up to three (3) months during your visa validity period." -immi.gov.au on visa 456 business short stay
then you would have to do an exit i presume after your second month to earn again another 3months.
where do people usually do the exit? is it a common practice too on that side of the world? and this would be another cost to consider -purchasing airline ticket and hotel reservations if required.
but...
this won't be necessary if one can extend their stay without having to leave australia.
or do you have a different visa class in mind, visa 456 is the one suggested for nurses (as per the immi.gov.au) and i just read you can actually work with this visa -if you have the time and energy.

456 visa is the business short stay... what i meant is the visitor visa 676
[color=sandybrown]this visa allows people to visit australia for a holiday or recreation, or to visit family and/or friends. this visa may also be used for other short-term non-work purposes including study for less than three months.

like i mentioned, chabeli's classmate was given a 1 year visitor visa to do bp. so there's time for sightseeing and studies.

hi, i have my letter of offer and acceptance of offer from curtin uni BP sem2. i dont know d no.of days per week yet. but i assume it was 9hrs/wk according to their site. i think la trobe is not in WA. in wat state r u planning to get registration?
as of the moment my first choice is la trobe because the BP is only for 3 mos. and its much cheaper compared to curtin uni but i also like to study there for 6 mos not much pressure on me... i think
