Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi everyone,
i have a question. Do you have any idea how an australian citizen who took his nursing degree here in the philippines becomes registered in victoria? He doesnt hold a PI liscense since he is not Filipino. Dies he have to take ielts?
I hope someone can answer. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you contact the board of nursing because generally you are required to have a license where you did your training. If you was not allowed to sit NLE because you do not have Philippine citizenship it may be waivered but they are the ones that make that decision. English exam may also be waivered because you are a Australian citizen but can ask them at the same time as you ask about registering with no license

as per NBV's requirements a nurse educated overseas should have a license from the country where she/he finished nursing. however, you can contact the PRC and maybe it will be waived.
with regards to the english exam, i think he would probably take an english exam, cos one of the requirements by the NBV to waive this is that the applicant should continously worked in an english speaking facility for no less that one year.same applies to those nurses coming from the US, Canada, Irelannd, UK and NZ...
in fact in WA, all nursing graduates of the state are required to have an english exam results before they will be given a registration...australian citizen or not..:)

Hi armi, glad to hear from you girl;)
I am a member of this forum since November of last year but did not have the courage to post queries. I am more active on the other forum (nurse2nz/oz) but I am pleased to share that I was well informed after reading this thread from the very beginning up to the present posts.:yeah:It was a very stressful process from gaining hospital experience up to obtaining an eligibility from the NMBWA..and yes, I agree that " it was all worth the wait." Indeed, patience is a virtue:up:
I also lodged my visa application last 22 October, 2009 at IDP Cebu branch since I am from Davao City. I was told by IDP that the application will only take 7 working days to be approved. I hope so, in that way I can plan and leave this year. I haven't heard from their office since last week as well so I assume that my documents are in order.
I hope you won't mind me asking as to why CURTIN did not require you to tender details of your clinical experience? As I was required by IDP to do so. I was informed that CURTIN requires a minimum of 6 months clinical experience (volunteer/employed). hmmm, case to case basis maybe;)
On the other hand, are you done with the immunization/screening required by the University? Hospitals here in the city do not have screening facilities for it so I was advised by our Occupational Nurse to have immunization instead. As it was the option taken by her daughter who had her bridging program at Hollywood Private Hospital.
With regard to accommodation, will you be staying on or off-campus? I have a constant communication with Ghislene Gho (the model of BSN Conversion Program at Curtin in the website ) and she gave me heaps of advice on where to look for one, since staying in the Uni is quite too pricey.
If in case you are looking for a house mate then I am just a PM away:D I know that we can not send private messages until we have 15 posts though so I guess I'll be active in this forum for a while:sniff:
Let us keep in touch for the outcome of our visa application. Cheers!
