Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
i got the result of the part A. luckily i passed two modules and unfortunately failed the others.. modular studies here i come! pm me anyone who needs help and references..
Hi ziggyldy! Congratulations! at least ur almost there na talaga...uhmm, do you have an idea how long will you be doing the module?..btw, i sent u a PM.. Congratz again..God bless you..
hi 4vida..where are u planning to study? kindly give me some background if deakin univ offers d most cheapest univ....
hi, currently Deakin is the cheapest one ($9,650..if im not mistaken)...however the longest one.BP in deakin is 14 weeks...and there is no oppoortunity for early exit, unlike in la trobe or etea which offers each applicant an opportuniy for early exit....
hi everyone.. i'm a newly registered nurse and would like to work in Australia, specifically in Victoria. may i ask what should be the 1st step to be qualified in the bridging program, by the way, i already emailed their board of nursing, hope they will emAIL ME BACK.THANK YOU!
merged with thread in the International forum where many answers will have already been answered
hi! initially, i was planning to do the bridging program but upon receiving the response from my inquiry at hollywood private hospital, i decided to look at other course providers. so there, got to look for another options but really, Curtin Univ. is expensive so i am trying to look for sponsors
Hi everyone, I'm new here and I have read around 80% of this thread and have learned a lot. Thank you for your kindness and patience to help people like me groping for answers. Aelith and the others, you guys are an angel :)
Like some of you here I have passed NCLEX and have my visa screen but because of the retrogression they have all expired. I have also tried applying in NZ nursing council but because I'm a 2nd courser, I was denied registration. And now I'm thinking of trying Australia but with much apprehension because I have already spent a lot, but still I feel as though I am not ready to give up.
Just want to ask if I understood correctly the pathways:
1. To study pre-registration for two years or getting a masteral degree will allow you to apply for a resident visa after 2 years, and not be pressured to find a sponsor especially if one is an inexperienced nurse in the Philippines. The whole process of applying to a university and getting a student visa, is less complex and barely has any risk (like failing shallenge test/clinical test or being denied) but will cost me a whole lot of money.
Time equivalent in taking other pathways is relatively the same (as compared to CAS, BP program plus finding a sponsor and getting the work visa) around 2 years.
2. Queensland CAS - Assuming that the nursing council finds you eligible - you can take the challenge test or educational module. It is so so much cheaper . if you take the challenge test you have to pass part a and part B (in brisbane). There is a chance here that you will not be able to registered (when you fail)
. If however you pass, you try to find a sponsor when you are finally registered as a nurse in Queensland. Some people in this thread have been blessed to find a sponsor. The visa you will get is not a residents visa though, but a working visa. I wonder what are the chances for inexperienced nurses in getting a sponsor? Does anybody here know of anyone who was registered already but had a hard time finding a sponsor? :thnkg:
3. NMBWA/others and BP Programs - The nursing council will give you the go signal to enroll in a BP (e.g. in Curtin) which is more or less 6 mos. worth around 10K but this is only for nurses with experience here (atleast 1 year) but there have been exceptions where in inexperienced nurses was taken in the BP. Also this is offered only 3 times a year only.
This is where im confused. The Conversion Program is a one year course - but you will still need to register to a nursing council and get their letter saying that you can enroll? And also upon completion of this program - you can be eligible to register, and once you are registered, you need to find a sponsor for your visa since you studied only one year and not two years.
Thanks again for all the help. God bless.
