New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi Bling! Or should I say classsmate :).. I lodged mine last Oct 19 thru IDP manila.Processing time is two weeks but I haven't heard from them so i'm a little bit anxious. I will follow up next week. :)

Hi, ArmiRN and Bling, Im a little confused. Did you apply to the Nursing Board of Western Australia first before you applied to Curtin? Or did you apply to Curtin even without getting the nursing board's assessment?

In my opinion u should pass all ur application asap even w/o IELTS.

thanks, UR49, I am actually submitting my application this week. It is taking so long for the hospital where Im working now to give me my Employer reference, I'm getting frustrated as the year is almost over. Can I just submit my application even without the employer reference?

@PERZADA

maybe we could do our application together and keep each other posted since its just the two of us who are not yet startng to pass their applications to NBV. KEEP me posted as to the status of your application..

Hey, may I join you? I'm still going to submit my application to NBV. Although I am planning to submit to WA as well...

yes it is....:)

hi, ryan09, can you pm me the number of the agency, too? please ? :nurse:

Hi guys! I've missed our thread , as I have been busy with reviewing for the NCLEX. Anyway, nope no news yet with regards to my application. When I followed up with the Council about a month ago they assured me that they haven't sent it to me yet (I was worried that it was lost because of the typhoons) and told me to just wait for my assessment. In a way I can view this as a blessing so that I can concentrate on the NCLEX first. It's probably God's way of telling me to take things one at a time :D. Hopefully I can receive my assessment before December so that I can still take the CAS on January.

Hang in there guys! God is good and He will surely reward us for our hard work and perseverance!

Hi drednag, sorry for not responding too soon;)

Armi and I applied at the NMBWA to obtain eligibility/approval for the Bridging Program before we submitted our application for enrollment at Curtin otherwise, we will not be able to reduce the duration of the program to 1 semester.

On the contrary, you can still apply at Curtin without the NMBWAs approval but you will have to study the program for 1 year

I reckon that you must have to undergo NMBWAs assessment before enrolling in any course provider of your choice in WA. Goodluck drednag, aim HIGH!

Gurl, are you allowed to send pm?

I wish to add you in Facebook account if you have one but since posting email ad is prohibited in this forum so I guess I'll have to wait till you reach your 15th post:crying2:

Arms, just want to clear some things re working conditions for student visa. Were you told by IDP that once obtaining your student visa you can work any state in OZ (unlimited hours)even before the BP commences?

Just want to be certain on this:D

Thanks heaps mate!
