New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hey armiRN! how much did you pay again for the half of the tuition at Curtin? can you also give us an idea about the expenses for the whole application process?

thank you very much!

Hi marcelino, hope I can be of help to your query regarding CUT's tuition fee since I am already done with this process and fervently waiting for my visa. Hope you won't mind;);)

If you have the eligibility/approval letter from the NMBWA then you will have to pay $11,690au for 1 semester and that's inclusive of OSHC ,otherwise, you will be paying $23,000au for a 1 year study. However, you will pay half of it upon admission and pay the remaining balance after the 1st semester. Don't need to pay the whole amount upon enrollment (this is if you do not have an approval from the NMBWA);)

Hope this helps and I wish you luck!..hope to see you in OZ soon:yeah:

hi bling!

thank you so much for the information. i already have the letter from NMBWA since August but I was really thinking of the expenses and all. after reading your posts, i was encouraged.

thank you so much and hope to keep in touch with you again!

Well maybe Bling I just got lucky. :) I'm planning to stay off campus but walking distance from Curtin. Less hassle from the commute. lol..I'm thinking of asking help from Curtin Housing..I saw it from their website :).. Let's keep in touch. Maybe we could book our flights together..:)

one more shot of varicella and I'm done with the immunizations.. As for the MRSA Screening, I'll have it December or before I leave in January in St lukes :)

I just applied online. It's easier that way. Then i got the letter of offer after 2 weeks I think. After that, I went to IDP Philippines to help me with my enrollment and student visa.. :)

Hi ArmiRN. What is the IELTS pass mark requirement for this program? Thanks

6.5 for the 1 year nursing conversion program but the NMBWA requires a 7..

hi everyone.. i'm a newly registered nurse and would like to work in Australia, specifically in Victoria. may i ask what should be the 1st step to be qualified in the bridging program, by the way, i already emailed their board of nursing, hope they will emAIL ME BACK.

THANK YOU!

Hi ArmiRN. What is the IELTS pass mark requirement for this program? Thanks

nursing conversion programs offered by universities only requires you to have a 6.5 overall band score, however when you apply to the board of nursing for a registration, you will be required to have a 7 band score in each module/component, this could be waived if you have studied nursing in australia for 4 semesters thus english language exam results will not be required.

same applies at La trobe university in victoria, they offer a Master in Nursing program for overseas nurses for one year, the uni only requires 6.5 overall band score but the NBV requires you to have a 7 band score in each module for you to be eligible to apply for a regsitariton unless you have studied nursing for two years. :)

i got my ecoe today and the o.r. of my payment. i will be submitting my student visa application by next week. i'm just gathering all the other documents that they need and organize it so it is easier. just keep going :) i'm praying everything will be smooth from here on so i can purchase my ticket as soon as i receive the visa. the student visa takes 4 weeks to process from here. i hope it can be sooner :) the ticket to aus is getting expensive as january draws near. the earlier the better.

hey! chabs way to go. i'm very happy knowing that you're almost there. good luck and god bless you both:dancgrp:

half a semester? i see. might as well inquire from Curtin. thank you for enlightening me

Cheers!

Hi! I'm opt to WA my papers were already assessed, just like what you're planning but not in curtin uni. Very expensive, why not try another BP provider since you have experience? Well, it's just a suggestion.

Yeah, that's right it will take half semester in curtin. While the other BP provider will take only 3 months.

Good luck and God bless you.
