New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Dear Layla,

I've been lurking in this thread for several days now.. reading what people post here. Pardon my comment (if it's too straight to the point), but, I just want to say that I think the US issue, or any update about the US for that matter, should be discussed in another thread. I have been active in this thread for months and I really wish everyone will just stay on topic here. This thread is made to help Filipino nurses achieve their dream of coming to work in Australia and New Zealand. This thread has helped so many nurses and I want to keep it like that or at least keep the environment here as friendly and helpful as before.

Some people here may be concerned about the US issues, but as you can see, most of the thread posters/lurkers here come here for information about Australia and New Zealand. I would appreciate it very much if you could just open up a new thread about the US and have discussions there instead of posting them here.

Hello Marie :)

I am still unsure of that certain aspect. I have been trying to check online at QNC's website, but, I have not found anything that says they now require 6 months experience. Maybe it's true and they just haven't posted it yet there or it could also be just a rumor or not mandated yet.

I'm sorry if I'm not much of help for this.

Hi!

I would like to ask if somebody here plans to do bridging course in VICTORIA/Melbourne :wink2:

hi punjabi ! Congrats:yeah:

I am an avid reader of this thread because of the rich information that can be very helpful in pursuing my goal. Thank you for all the contributors. :loveya:

I would like to know some details on how to apply for Permanent Residency after passing the CAS. Someone told me that there are hospitals requiring overseas nurse to become PR of au first before hiring them. But one of the requirements in applying PR is to study there for atleast 2yrs. Any advise on this matter? thank u!

Anybody has the contact number of ASNC? I want to attend their orientation. :)

And also, would it be possible and cheaper if you do everything your own way then just enlist the help of an agency for employment? I am an inexperienced nurse, licensed December 06 thanks.
