New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

guys, as we process our applications, hope we keep in mind and perhaps if anyone could discuss any given time the effect of the national registration in relation to our pending applications, be it for QNC o

aelith, jst curious,... is our thread one of the longest and active thread?

thank you so much ryan, now i understand. :) as for the difference between initial registration and pre-registration for overseas nurses, do you have an idea about that? thank you.

hello,

i've been gone for a while and there seems to be so much information. Is there anyone who can provide a list of BP providers, requirements, cost and duration for VIC? I am still trying to decide where to apply. Very frustrating. I've filled out all application forms to different states but don't know which one to send out. I read somewhere that VIC has intake all year round, is that correct? I'm now more encouraged since I thought only NSW had that. I hope someone can share this information so I can finally decide.

*Aelith, I tried to pm you many times before but for some reason I couldn't send a message :(

somebody shared this with me, i'm sharing it with you too.. check this site http://www.nbv.org.au/web/guest/courses-division-1 the updated list of accredited schools are all there... i have registered with NBV... they assessed my documents for 3weeks.. its just the mailing time to PI that adds to the 3 weeks of waiting so it takes about 5 weeks to get the letter from NBV to take the course.. i called and emailed almost all of the schools in the list, VCHN is already full ($10kcourse fee); mercy training next intake is june 22 ($10K +$500 non-refundable deposit whatever the result of your assessment); ETEA next intake is june 1 ($10,600 +$250 application fee); AAON (University of Ballarat) ($10K + overseas application fee attached and you have to have a registered agent, you cant enroll directly to them, next intake is may22 then july 23... so far these are some schools that i have inquired and replied to my queries...

are most of your opting to do the bridging course?? no one wants to do the CAS instead ? just been noticing alot of post regarding school cost and all..been gone for sometime..

Yes, noticed this, too. CAS used to be the "craze" in this thread. Why now BPs? Just wondering... Is it better to undergo a regular BP than CAS? Any input would be helpful as I am considering both. Thanks in advance.

hi! you will be doing bridging course if you are going to victoria (12 to 13 weeks) and western australia (8-10 weeks) while CAS is for queensland :wink2:
