Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
oh i see... it really takes some time... well i guess i cant take the may 20 intake anymore if that is the case... thanks ryan09! good for you, you are already there in OZ...
dont you worry too much...they will give you a reply anytime soon.
where do you want to do the program? what institution? ETEA is also good...Deakin Uni is a bit cheaper compared to other institutions
I thought University of Ballarat is the cheapest...I have searched and read about ETEA, Deakin Uni, Victorian College of health and nursing (any feedback?), La trobe (most expensive, i think). My cousin lives in melbourne thats why im planning to take the bridging course in victoria instead...What worries me is that, after the course, granting that i pass it, how will my visa be converted, the time constraints and alll...do you have any idea about this?

ballarat is very far from melbourne, i havent tried inquiring at Uni Ballarat...the time that NBV gave me the list of educational institutions last year,UNI of Ballarat is not yet included...ETEA is a bit expensive, but you may not finish the whole course after they have evaluated you and that you are already competent. yes, la trobe is expensive, the school also is a bit far from melbourne...
my CI who did her training at ETEA, finished the course for three months, what she did while shes still doing the program, she started inquiring to different hospitals for them to sponsor her.
hi ryan09,
thank you very much for the information! i received approval from NBV last month. actually i first applied in queensland but until now i haven't received any letter from the board.
NBV updates the list of their accredited course providers, the latest is March 4, 2009.deakin u is really the cheapest but application for international applicants closed last feb 2009 for May intake. do you have any idea in these institutions...vaucluse hospital and mercy health training institute. these institutions have June 2009 intake and a bit cheaper than eata.

institutions will accpet applicants two months prior to the commencement of the program.
some of the institutions and facilities have selection criterias, meaning, they have guidelines in choosing their future incoming students. also, some facilities limit the student numbers enrolled in the program, i have inquired before to two of the facilities offering the program and they only allowed two to three training students to enrol in the program per semester(depends how big the facility is). Victorian College, will have a look at your work experience before they will accept you to do the program with them. I have been ringing Vaucluse and Mercy hospital before, and it seems that the clinical in charge is always busy, so i lose hope. But i think someone told me that Vaucluse Hospital halted their program for overseas nurses, but then they are still accredited to run the program until their accreditation will expire. There is a filipino preceptor in ETEA, so i think that would be great, as she can help fellow filipino nurses during the duration of the program.
Hello everyone!
I have been reading threads with regards to bridging program for quite sometime now, even before the results came out. And now that I am a newly registered nurse (Nov. 08 passer) I am now of GREAT, GREAT interest of doing the bridging program in Victoria. Wow, that would be great news if NBV accepts applicants even with zero experience. My question now is on the institutions/hospitals/colleges/universities, coz I just read in one thread that Victorian College is requiring work experience before you get accepted into their program. Do you guys have an idea on what institution doesn’t require one?
Thank you so much and God bless to everyone.
ryan09 thank you very much for the information! it will really help me in my decision later where to undergo my bridging course. God bless :wink2:
youre welcome :)
thanks ryan! i think i will do that too in case i'll be registered hopefully in victoria... thanks a lot for the information...
no problem... :)

hey, actually one of their criterias in choosing the students, is the students' work experience. now, if so happened that only few of the enrolees have got work experience that satisfies them, then thats the time they will consider enrolees who havent got enough experience or who havent got experience at all...
the best thing for you to do is to book your position ahead of time, and constantly monitor your position if its still good, or if its already been taken by someone who's experience satisfy the school...if unluckily, your position has been taken, then you can always look for other institutions.a lot of them to choose from.
its the institution who will decide if you can push through with the program basing from your experience and not the nbv, therefore the nbv will accept applicants without experience...however, the assessment process is based/done individually.
