New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

I'd like a copy too. How much? I don't know where to get them. I think most people are now thinking of doing BPs instead of CAS is because CAS takes a longer time although as we can see, a LOT cheaper. I'm still thinking of which one to do actually. Maybe I'll apply to both. Thanks dudzy for the info ;)

hi, the review materials are the books recommended by CAS, it was posted previous pages ago...so you better have a retrieval. :) if you want, you can visit ebay.com.au, a lot of people do sell nursing books...

and we cant actually tell that CAS would be longer than BP, as BP doesnt have available positions for enrolees all the time and institutions offerring the program doesnt open the course anytime, i think twice or thrice a year, in some cases, they will suspend their program offering, whereas in CAS, if your application is approved then they can make a schedule for you as to when and where you can do the tests anytime for your perusal. :)

hello again, do you guys have an idea as to the validity of the letter of confirmation from nbv to undergo the bridging program, for how long is it valid? thank you.

its two years..

usually two years, but with the national registration in the pipeline, i bet things will change.

thanks dudzy :) and another thing, if ever you have finished the bridging program, would there be a great chance of you being employed as a nurse?, thank you.

thank you ryan, are you now in victoria doing the BP? what kind of program are you taking, the pre-registration or the initial registration?

hi cvjc1228! i was able to talk with the HR in one of those accredited institutions, yes, they said that the hospital where you take the clinicals might hire those who are taking the BP, if they see you to be competent to practice, of course. There are also some immigration agents who facilitate the BP enrollment for you at the same time they also have an employer ready for you the moment you are done with the BP and you're processing the registration. I was able to talk with them too. No need to go back to the Philippines after the BP. They do all the works converting visa 456 to 457. Hope somebody confirms these information for me specially those who took this path and became successful in OZ.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Can I remind members it is against terms of service to solicit for material. You can advise members where to buy the material but please do not ask if members are selling or offer to sell
