Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
thanks po mam aelith. I have a plan to take the challenge test in queensland australia. I assume if I failed the Part B exam the duration b4 i passed the part B exm is 1 month becoz somebody told me that if you failed the 1 day clinical exm in australia you would undergo a 160 hors ojt training which is good for a month. for the hotels and inns you have said in your previous reply how much is the cost in a monthly basis, and is it ok if i share rent to the other filipinos out there so that my accomodation would be cheaper than to rent a whole inn or hotel. thanks mam aelith and i appreciate your reply and hopefully e can have a chat on ym someday thanks thanks!!!!

actually, the bills in australia is weekly opposed to what we have in the philippines - monthly. you can expect to pay around 120 aud up (apartments/rooms for rent/inns/hostels). the figure i quoted will depend on where you are going to stay and if it is a shared acco or not. you can try to browse a few pages back in this thread; i have stated there the possible costs for everything - you may want to check it. :)

wow GOD IS GOOD all the time...congratulations...did you took the challenge test B? or you took the clinical module directly?
how many months until you were registered in Oz? i mean, from processing, taking the exams and the clinicals?
thanks...
I took Part A of the Challenge Test Dec. '07, got the result of that exam Jan. '08. I only got 2 out of the 4 components/subjects hence was advised to take the 2 modules which corresponds to the components I failed. I enrolled on the 1st module Feb. '08 but due to personal matters I had to temporarily stop doing the module, I came back Sept. '08 finished the 1st module around end of Oct. '08, went to Aus 1st week of Nov. for the 2nd module (the clinical part), after a month came back here in the Phils., mid December. I was able to complete and send all the assignments for marking or grading around 3rd week of Jan. '09, got the results from CAS by end of Jan. then 1st week of Feb. got a note from QNC that I'm already eligible for registration, I just need to pay a fee so that they can send the license, 12 days after QNC receiving my payment got my license and certificate in the mail.

Hi guys,
I'm new here just registered today, but I have been visiting this thread for quite a while now. I should say this is a very interesting forum for me.
Hi nursemavi, if you will be kind enough to inform me that when you applied for HPH to undertake BP, you only have about 0-6 months experience by then? If yes, is it still possible if I try there too since I only have 3 months post-graduate experience.
Another thing is that, if after the BP the hospital will not absorb you, can I apply to another hospital, and how about the visa. Can I extend it?
Did you get the visa 456?, 457?, or student visa when you went there?
Sorry for the many questions, but I think you are the most qualified to answer me for you are there actually doing the BP.:plsebeg:
:tku:
IF POSSIBLE, can you update for the process.
Thanks again.

HPH requires a certain number of hours of experience as a requirement, approximately if im not mistaken, its about 9 months of experience (i think "training" & "volunteer" could be counted)..
After passing the BP, you will have your license.. If HPH will not absorb you, you can apply in another hospital.. you can apply either you were still there or already here in the philippines, but better still there.. it depends on your visa on whether there is a restriction of "cannot be extended", in that case you must go back home..
she got 456 visa (457 is working visa, student visa is advisable if you will study more than 3 months in Oz).. 456 is like a visitors visa, you can get it in 1 week or less, and you are allowed to stay in Oz for 3 months and allowed to study within that 3 months, but you are not allowed to work part time or anytime..
layla as far as I can remember, at the time nursemavi applied in HPH she had less than the required number of hours but she was still accepted because she told HPH that before the program starts she will be able to complete the # of hours. her BP started in January and she completed the hours in December I think. She just applied ahead of time to be given a spot. Anyway nursemavi can correct me if I am wrong =)

Hello cioman :)
As far as I know, it will depend on whether you will be able to satisfy the points needed for the skilled migration using the 1 year experience. But basically, 1 year experience in the last 2 years prior to lodging is the minimum requirement.
