  1. I think nyk is right, you can opt to do the clinical placement instead of the Part B Clinical challenge Test.
  2. Goodluck dudzy!!! Don't forget to bring your jumper! It's kinda cold in Melbourne now.
  3. I'm not 100% sure about this, but from what I've gathered, for new graduates with Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; without work experience, it will be Level 1 Grade 2..for those who finished with Diploma only in Nursing, newly grad with no experience it would be Level 1 Grade 1.
  4. hi, phoenix_risisng. yes, an employer already sponsored me and i've already filed my 457 visa with diac last feb. they say the processing takes around 3 months so hopefully i'll get it this may. branyan no day but today!!!
  5. hi! i submitted my 457 application online (e457) last feb.23 and it's still being processed, they've already asked asked us (my family) to have our medicals and boy they were quick because i received their request for health exam only a day after i submitted my application.. from what i gathered, as per my friends' experiences, theirs took around almost 3 months, i'm hoping mine would be finished sooner or much quicker as i did an online application. branyan no day but today!!!
  6. that's the right thing to do, don't quit on your present job yet, you can always file a leave of absence from your work if you need to do something personally like the challenge test or placement, at present, it's difficult to know how long it will take you to finish cas and get a job as there's an increase in influx of expectant qld applicants/registrants. waiting is much more difficult if you don't have work or something to make yourself busy. yes, i was able to get a job, my employer already nominated me for a position and sponsorship which is already approved, i'm waiting now for my 457 approval. branyan no day but today!!!
  7. @phoenix rising this what happened in my case... 1. after passing the part b, how long will it take before i get my qld license so i can look for an rn job? cas sent their recommendation letter monday to qnc, qnc received the letter wednesday, qnc sent me an email to pay for my license the same day, paid them thru credit card friday, saw my name in the qnc registry tuesday of the following week. received my certificate of registration, id, badge thru post 2 weeks after paying for my license. if i get my qld license, can i start working using a 456 visa while waiting for my 457 visa to push through, or do i have to wait for the 457, either in australia or in the philippines? 456 only lets you do the following: attend to business activities in australia including conferences, business negotiations or exploratory business visits be allowed to engage in limited work, if for example it is highly specialised and non-ongoing hence if you plan to work permanently, you will need to apply for a 457; to be able to apply for this visa, you must have an employer that will sponsor and nominate you for a certain position (rn), only after getting the approval of your employers nomination and sponsorship by diac you can apply for a 457. you should also consider that a 456 only lets you stay for up to 3 months only..according to diac, they are able to process 457 visas in 3 months, 75% of the time, this means you would have to wait for a minimum of 3 months to be granted a 457 (also keep in mind the time needed for filing the nomination and sponsorship). so given this situation it's possible that you'll used up your visa stay before you get your 457. i'm not sure if a bridging visa or subclass 050 can apply in this case. please take this with a grain of salt, this is not an immigration expert's advice.
  8. Mr. Kowalska Yes, my colleague got a 456 Short Stay Visa, multiple entry valid for one year. She will be doing the CAS program. Another colleague got also a 456 Short Stay Visa, multiple entry valid for one year and will be doing the Bridging program at College of Nursing in Burwood Sydney. Hi. Your colleagues who got the 456 visa, are they from the Philippines? Thanks!
  9. I think it's only ANZ bank that can make a draft in AUD. ANZ is located in GT Tower Makati.
  10. I think the standard is 676 for CAS students if you consider my case, another CAS student doing her clinical placement now and joeturtle. I was instructed by CAS to apply for a 676 visa. I asked CAS if I can apply for a 456 instead of 676 but they told me I need to apply for 676 and not 456, the same goes with the other CAS student I know who is doing her clinicals now. Does anyone here know someone who went to OZ for the first time for their clinical placement or clinical challenge test not on a 676 visa?
  11. Good news for us nurses (or professionals) but bad news for other occupations (skilled)... pls. read on.. Australian media reported today that there have been 'major cuts' proposed to skilled migration that would 'shut the door' for many migrants. Here is summary of what has been reported: The Government has proposed it will reduce the planned record intake of skilled migrants from 133,500 workers in 2008-09, to 115,000. Building and construction occupations will be removed from the Critical Skills List. The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship has just introduced a new Critical Skills List (CSL) with a focus on mainly health, medical, engineering and IT occupations. Whilst the CSL does not make any changes to the substantive criteria to be met to qualify for skilled migration, it does result in priority processing. The current order of priority processing is: applicants with state/territory sponsorship; then applicants who have an occupation on the CSL. Nurse - Registered Nurse appears on the new CSL. This means that upon successfully completing your skills assessment and lodging a valid visa application, you will qualify for priority processing by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Immigration Minister, Senator Chris Evans, also commented that the overwhelming message from business and industry is that Australia still needs to maintain a skilled migration program and plays a crucial role in stimulating the economy.
  12. Yes, just sign and have the declaration (Item 10) notarized. There is a statutory declaration in the old QNC form but its on Item 9.
  13. I think that's the wisest thing to do..try all things that present opportunities but be careful not to lose your focus..
  14. ryan is right, CAS will instruct you to get a 676 visa (tourist)..that's what I applied when I went to do the clinical part. This visa can be processed in 2 weeks...but the thing is, you must get the full medical exam, the standard health requirement for a tourist visa is just an x-ray..you must tell the clinic that you'll enter a health facility that's why you have to get a full medical.
  15. You'll choose the schedule that suits you, you will tell CAS when you want to have your exam and they'll schedule it, like you tell them what month you would like to have the exam and they'll give you the possible dates. QNC has nothing to do with the CAS program, their role could be summed up like this Assessment-->Referral to CAS (if an individual is qualified)--->Registration(if one was deemed competent by CAS). The only schedule that QNC will give is the 2 years grace period required for an individual to finish the whole registration process.
