Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hopefully by April, I went back because my wife's giving birth this March :yeah:and I also cant afford to stay there and just wait..I'm just on a tourist visa. One good thing about the clinicals is that you can show your skill and competence not only to QNC & CAS but likewise to the hospital and this can give you a chance in getting work. Thats why when I did my clinicals, I just didn't do it for CAS but to also show what I can offer the hospital in the hope of them giving me a job.

I dont think the healthcare industry in AUS or US even is affected by the financial crisis. When I was there, they were showing ADS on TV regarding their nursing shortage..I was stunned when I saw that AD considering whats happening here in the Phils. with the oversupply of nurses.
Congrats with the baby!
Hi Kit!
When are you coming to Australia to fully register with the nursing council at your chosen state? From my knowledge here in Perth, nursing jobs are a plenty. One just need to be licensed and get a working visa to be able to work legally. Prior to coming over, check the VISA 457 checklist to ensure you are bringing with you the required documents since you can file this by online. Update your CV so that you can apply directly to your hospital of choice. I think the nurses are not affected of the worldwide economic meltdown specifically here in Australia. I am already doing my clinical placement and will complete it, God willing, at the end of February. As early as the 2nd week of Feb., we are already encouraged to apply as the hospital needs to nominate us for sponsorship and the sponsorship approval will be a required document for visa 457 application. Just get your OZ license and everything will fall in place.
Good luck and God bless.
Cheers,
Maggie
Hi!
I am undergoing a bridging program for Registered Nurses. Enrolled nurses are of different level as with Registered Nurses. They are comparable to LPN in the US. Overseas educated nurses are still required to undergo a bridging program before they are taken in as enrolled nurses.
Good luck and God bless.

Hi Maggie,
It's good to hear you're doing good. I'm off to QLD by March. I am completing my modules and I'm done with medicals. I'll be attending my sister's grad 3rd week of March hopefully, before I go for good. I'm checking some flights and Qantas is still expensive. I'm actually considering Tiger but I have to via in Singapore and then in Perth. And the large bulk of luggage will kill me somehow. I'm keeping my options open since this will make me visit 3 places at the same time (exhausted). Keep safe and keep in touch. Hope to see you in Oz sometime.
Im a second courser and my qulification according to QNC is equal to that of an ENROLLED NURSE. I can register provided I pass CAS and clinicals.Did anyone get the same assesment like me? any ideas what to review as an EN?
Thanks :)
Just curious but how many second coursers had this same assessment. ?? Do you have work related experience?

I dont have any work experience.
I am not aware of anyone having the same assesment as mine.
It really doesnt matter if you are a second courser.
There are a lot of second coursers who get RN assesment.
Im the only one with this special case ... i think....
