Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi branyan!I would like to know your timeline. After completing your clinical placement, how many days/weeks/months did you receive feedback from the council that you are now eligible for registration? When did you start the clinicals and when did it end? When did you go to Au and when did you come back? Thank you so much.
I started my placement Nov. 10 until Dec.5 (20 days = 160 hrs), went back here Dec. 16, because of the holidays, I was able to finish and send my assignments only last Jan. 23, CAS received them Jan. 28, my assignment was then marked or graded, I think CAS was able to post the docs needed to certify that I passed the CAS program to QNC last Feb.2, I received a notification from QNC yesterday Feb. 5 that I'm already eligible to register and only needs to pay the license fee. I hope my license would be released ASAP because the hospital is also waiting for that, they need it in filing my sponsorship with immigration.
Hi!It is not required that the experience should be in a tertiary hospital. They will accept even if you are a clinic nurse or a Clinical instructor.
Cheers,
Maggie
that's good news. anyway nursemavi, how many weeks is your bridging program? is it 12 weeks? and I would also like to know how much you spend per week when it comes to accommodation, food, fare and other basic necessities if you don't mind. Thanks!
good day to everybody. i would just like to ask regarding the papers needed in qld. I have mine authenticated at DFA, the one with the red ribbon attached to it, my question is do i still need to have it notarized or would it be enough? or do i need to photocopy it then have it notarized? thanx!
I'm not too familiar with the DFA authentication. My idea with DFA authentication is that it certifies that your copy is a genuine copy, as we know, diplomas and TOR's can be faked. QNC only needs a certified true copy (CTC), it is explicitly written in their instruction not to send original copies. If what the DFA authenticated is an original copy then don't send it, just make a CTC of it.
Hi Nursemavi,
Thanks for the info but. I appreciate it a lot. But the idea is that the PRC must be the one to send the Verification direct to NMBWA, will PRC also send the Certificate of Good Standing direct to NMBWA? Have you done it or you know somebody that made it through instead of the Verification of Initial Registration.
Thanks again and I hope for the best for you too.
Stay nice.:prdnrs:

You do not need a DFA authentication for your documents. That's the red ribbon, I think. This is only applicable to middle east countries and new zealand. For QLD or Western Australia, you get your documents (diploma and transcripts) directly from school. Most importantly, have them notarized (photocopy) correctly and as specified by the council. I think they have a new form now. So, better check the QNC website. Hope this helps.

Hi!
This is a requirement of NMBWA and I had complied this. You are right that PRC will be the one to send this certification of good standing to NMBWA. NMBWA do not require the Verification of REgistration as you are just required to submit a certified true copy of your certificate of registration which PRC mailed to you(looks like a diploma). I requested Verification of Registration for my NCLEX application and I know that this takes 4 weeks since I am from the province and this request needs to be forwarded to PRC HO for verfication. Never fret. Just inquire from PRC in you area if you request a certification of good standing, how many days can they release it?
Good luck and God bless.
Cheers,
Maggie
Hi Kit,
Our BP runs for 8-10 weeks. We had 4 weeks theoreticals and 4-6 weeks in clinical practice(usually 4 weeks only unless you have some issue in your practice which would require you to extend). I am now going to my 2nd week of clinical practice. Our program timeline is theoreticals from Jan 05 till Jan 30 then clinicals from Feb 2-27.
Currently, I am renting a room near the hospital. It is a 12-15 minute walk from my place to the hospital so I am spared of the cost of transportation which cuts on your budget. I am renting my room for 140aud/pw. Your food depends on your lifestyle. 50aud/pw grocery is more than enough for you if you will cook your own food. If you are fond of eating out, you need to chunk out 7aud/meal. What I do is cook my own food. As with the toiletries, they are a little bit expensive but there are times that the supermarkets put these stuff on special sale from time to time and they become cheaper that the prices we've got in the Phils. A safe budget pe rmonth is 1,000aud and am even spending less than that. I brought my own toiletries for three months use. But I don't advise you to as you can buy them here.
Good luck and God bless.

Maggie

Thanks, Maggie. I'll buy my toiletries here. Were you allowed to bring them in Au? I mean the liquids and all the stuff with the strict aviation security?
the diploma in nursing program is just for you to be an enrolled nurse there.. i ask agencies here in the philippines, they require the filipino nurses to have atlest 3 yrs of axperience before they can apply for australia and take refresher course there to be an RN. The course or training usually takes about 3 to 6 months as stated by the consultant from an agency.
