My nursing dreams are over . I failed.

Published

Being a nurse has been my dream for years. I put my heart into this from day one. I went to clinicals even when I was 9 months pregnant, had my daughter and came back 5 days later to finish the semester (1st semester). I did great on 2nd semester and last spring I was supposed to start my 3rd. I dropped the class due to leaving my abusive boyfriend and other personal problems. Came back this fall to retake the class. My grades were: 82, 84, 72 and 66.

Average: 74. I failed the class by 1 point. My school only allows us to take the same class twice. Anything more than that and you're out. I'm out.

I'm devastated. Broken. I've put so much into this. I was so close and now I'm miles away. Everything depended on me graduating in June. Now I won't graduate at all. I don't even know what to do from now on. My family tells me to beg for a point, but I know they won't give it to me.

Has anybody been in this situation?? I don't mind retaking the class if they allow me to. But being DROPPED?? After everything i went through?? :o

I'm griving today as if someone had died. My dream died. :crying2:

Congrats!!! I'm glad it worked out for you :yeah:

Oh no I'm sorry that happened to you even after hard work and effort.

I know a couple of girls who that happened to, and in my school they have a policy that you can come back to the RN program after you complete your LPN license.

maybe your school has that too. Talk to the dean and see what your options are.

you got this far on your own, and just keep working at it, and you will get there eventually.:nurse:

I just had to come share the news with you guys: I'M BACK IN THE NURSING PROGRAM!!! They accepted my appeal!!:yeah:

I was so depressed at first, I was close to losing hope but I'm glad I wrote the letter. I didn't ask for a free point, I only asked for a chance to retake the class. And they allowed me!

Thank you guys so much for all your kind words of support. I wish I could hug each and everyone of you. I spreaded the info about RCC to my classmates that were not as fortunate so you guys not only helped me, but also a lot of my classmates.

:heartbeat :nurse:

I didn't read your update before! that is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you :) how exciting. You will do great, and keep working hard and studying hard every day so you can accomplish your goals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:nurse:

princess, im sooo happy for you...go girl!! now show em what u got!!! congrats!

I'm so happy for you. Now keep a good eye on the grading and make sure all the credit that you earn is coming to you. One time I was behind a point and when through all my material and found a grading error where I was due two points. Keep track....you never know. : ) I'm very happy for you.

I know all too well how you feel. This happened to me in my second semester. I ended up failing all three of my courses. In one of my classes, my grade ended up being 79.4 and needed an 80 to pass. So now I'm out of the program. It really makes you sick to your stomach knowing that you put all the hard work into it. But you aren't alone. If nursing is your dream, please don't give up. If it takes checking into another school, do it. I believe everything happens for a reason.
