I don't want to hijack the other thread but I wanted to update on my daughter's broken arm. We saw Ortho yesterday and she is having surgery tomorrow. They were not able to completely reduce it in the ER, it's still completely displaced. I'll TRY to add pix... I'm bad at it, apparently.
Please cross your fingers for a smooth surgery and uneventful recovery!!
Before reduction- That bone should not be pointing at her ribs

We can prob go home this afternoon as long as her pain is controlled. She had a bad hour last night when the pain block wore off. Norco didn't touch it so after an hour so they gave her dilaudid and she was fine in 2 minutes. Then she stayed up most of the night watching teen nick.
Ronald McDonald house is here with food and gave her a light up Pillow Pet. We're about to go check out the board games.

Glad they were able to get her pain under control. Hope they give her decent meds for home. Don't let my son know about the pillow pet, he'll be flinging himself down stairs to get one. May home give her more comfort.
How is everyone doing?
I was just thinking of giving an update!
She's doing great!! Two pins are in and should come out in 3 weeks. She's barely having any pain. She's got a stabilizer from her shoulder to her elbow but no cast. It was broken so high that the dr said the cast would have to wrap around her chest.
She (and my other 2 kids) are with their dad for a week. I told her if she needs help with wrapping it or anything to knock on the neighbor's door-- a really good friend of mine, who is also a nurse, lives a few houses away :)

Be very kind to yourself during this high stress time. I was positively worn out when my Loved One was recently hospitalized and emergently "surgerized". I had absolutely zero energy on the 3rd day of being with LO 24/7. Could not motivate myself to dress and drive back to hospital that next day. So be good to yourself, rest, draw strength from whatever your source is.
Wishing you all the best.
