My daughter's arm...

Published

I don't want to hijack the other thread but I wanted to update on my daughter's broken arm. We saw Ortho yesterday and she is having surgery tomorrow. They were not able to completely reduce it in the ER, it's still completely displaced. I'll TRY to add pix... I'm bad at it, apparently.

Please cross your fingers for a smooth surgery and uneventful recovery!!

Before reduction- That bone should not be pointing at her ribs

Yes, good thoughts your way for safe surgery & speedy recovery!!

She's gone in about 25 minutes ago.

They will attempt closed reduction and pinning and if they can't, then they will open the arm up.

I couldn't stay with her until she was asleep but she put on a brave face and no tears from either of us!

Dr thought it'd be about an hour if it was a closed reduction or 2 if they had to open

Prayers for a speedy recovery.

She's done. They found out why they couldn't manage a closed reduction. When they opened it, her bone had poked through the periosteum and it was wrapped around the bone. Two pins in that they will remove in 4 weeks and she will stay overnight for 3 doses of IV ABT.

They're doing a pain block now and then I'll get to see her.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and love!! [emoji173]️[emoji173]️

Holy crow! wishing you guys a peaceful night and a speedy recovery

OW!!! praying for her. and for you. It's so hard to see our kids in pain, and just as hard to see them taken into surgery.

After seeing x ray I would've taken her place. Glad everything went well & continued prayers for well healing.

Wow, glad she had the surgery. Thanks for keeping us updated. :inlove:
