Hello,
I've been searching through the message boards and I just can't find much information on people who go/have gone to the nursing program at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. I was wondering...what was your entering GPA? What was your NET score? How did you like it? What hospitals did the school use for classes? Do you feel like you got a good education there?
Thanks so much!
Sarah
I actually like the school its a very nice campus and so far I like the people, I didnt think I would because it was my first time being away from home....but I adjusted within days!2.The area is pretty nice, everything you need is right there! You wont waste very much gas at all! The place where we do clinicals is like 7 minutes away...mostly because of the traffic lights. Alot of people say its boring up here, but they have bars, clubs, game places, movie theaters, skating rinks...jus depends on the person...me personally I dont have time to say that its boring because Im always studying.
3.They do, you can either study in the Clark Student Center or go to the library and request a room...its not hard to find a spot at all
4. Now I stay in on campus apartments and they are nice, but I odnt know much about them here....there is a orevious post about the apartment prices from prettyladie im not sure what page number, but you should check it out.
5. its a very good program, it takes hard work and alot of reading and studying to get the grades you want( from my perspective). On page 19 of this post someone has put all the courses you will have to take throughout the semester. For the first 2 semesters, if you are on financial aid, you will need to find extra courses to be full time. Another thing you will hear about is about pharmacology in teh 2nd semester....alot of people take it at a community college because its hard up here...but it's up to you on where you want to take it. Ive heard both sides and have decided to take it at MSU. Other than that I think its a good program.
well thanks. I appreciate it. Now that has me looking forward to going. Bar's are everywhere. I am not too worried about going out and partying. I would like to go out every once and a while for drinks and what not but I am 23 years old. I am not worried about that stuff anymore. I know I am not old but I partied enough I would say.
Sounds like a good town I can keep my focus on and what not. I guess when I get my acceptance letter I will start networking and adding people on facebook for study groups, tips on teachers, and what not.
Thanks
@ knalimol CONGRATS ON GETTING IN!!! My friend that I knew at UTA was from houston and she got accepted into MSU and Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, but she went to Corpus Christi because she would be closer to home and I dont blame her lol. Idk when MSU's will be coming in so I would go ahead and send the PV stuff off. The program here is hard, but anywhere u go its probably gon be hard...as long as u read and study then you should be fine at PV as well as at any other nursing school.
@ Delgadido I understand completely....you get burned out on it. Its a good town to be able to study in and not get too distracted...when you get a break from studying then you will see that there are plenty options. As far as the fully furnished apartments...I know the Grove is on Taft Blvd...as well as the on campus apartments...but thats the only ones I know of.
Alum 08,
If you can help it try to move to wichita falls, instead of commuting, I've been commuting an hour and a half one way almost every day and it really wore me down, thankfully I've relocated so at least that stress is off my shoulders. Also try not to work if you can help it while in the progam, I was also working 24 hours a week, which in my opinion really isn't that much, but it really wreaked some havoc on my grades
Does anyone commute? I live in Dallas and I am thinking about commuting if I get accepted. I will try talking my fiance into moving half way and that would put us both at a 1 hour drive. Are classes everyday or just 2-3 times a week?
I would think a serious decision would have to be made. that would be far too much money for gas for the both of you. if it would 2-3 times a week I GUESS it would be fine. but i doubt it will be. you will also have clinicals you will attend.... so i am not sure...

I just got my acceptance letter to Prairie View today :-) in the mail but i'm still waiting on any news from Midwestern. I'm from Houston so PV would be the ideal place for me to attend plus i have lots of friends there but everyone keeps sayying how hard it is in there and how the teachers are not that helpful.
I dont know. I have till April 5 so i dont really have a lot of time and i dont wanna sit around for midwestern end up missing the deadline for PV.
