  1. Okay...will you be working full time also or part time?
  2. To be full time, you'd have to take all 13hrs during the fall? Or just 9?
  3. Are you planning on going part time or full time?
  4. Congratulations to you too. Have you heard anything about the program? I got my official acceptance letter in the mail yesterday.
  5. Hey, I got accepted too and i'm totaly in shock. UT was not a school i expected to get into. I have my information session June 3rd but i'm also curious as to what the program entails. So if you find out anything please let me know. Congratulations.
  6. Kyonguyen22 i'd call the school and ask about that. Have you heard anything about the program? I'm having the hardest time finding anyone who's in the program or knows anything about the program.
  7. Hello, I got any email today stating that there was an "update to my application." I checked and it said i was accepted. So i think they are in the process of contacting those who got in. Good luck everyone.
  8. Blackberrie281 There are some books that have additional materials online which require an access code but its not manditory. Its only if you want to read further in the class. For the most part everything you'll need will be in the book. Angel1990 You're welcome I'm sure people will want to sell their books. When you get here you will see all sorts of flyers for the books. But not all books will be avaliable to you through other students because they might need it as a reference for classes in all semester.
  9. wow so many questions. i hope i answer all of them. let me start by say you should enjoy your time off now. cuz come january it will be a different ball game. if you have shots to take or cpr training make sure all that is complete. hang out with friends and family lol. as for preparing ahead, come to the transfer day and meet your professors/teachers/fellow students. i have a great study group and we all met @ transfer day. accomodation: i moved close to school (5 mins away) which is a good thing for me. especially days i have clinicals and i have to be at the hospital @ 6:45am. but there are people who commute from home and still make it. it all boils down to how you manage your time. hook up on books: people in semester's ahead of you. if you have friends here borrow their books. i got all my books from friends which saved me a lot of money. (these books are expensive) my schedule: i have classes on monday's and thursdays and clinicals tuesday. but thats only because i took health assessment in the summer. i do however come to con everyday. wednesday's to study with my study group and friday i attend another section for patho. (hearing the information twice reallys helps a lot) and on weekends, i'm here working on careplans and studying. basically i live @ con. advice: don't understimate this program. there are people who are failing classes ( classes start at different times. i have a 8:00am class and a 9:00am class. they run between 3-4 hours you do have the option to choose where you want to go to for clinicals. however its a first come first serve thing. for semester 1 the hospitals avaliable are: methodist and kindred (med center) memorial herman northwest, select specialtiy in the heights. i like most of my instructors...lol but it's subjective. when you get in you'll be able to pick your fav's. hope this helps. let me know if you have anymore questions.
  10. Hey Blackberrie281 What can i say about my semester? Well its very different than pre-reqs i'll tell you that much. I took health assessment in the summer which means i'm only taking basics (fundamentals) and Patho. This means i have a break between tests. But there are people who are taking all 3 classes at the same time which means a test every week but they are making it. Health assessment in the summer was easy. Just a lot of reading but the reading was interesting. However i've heard people complain about it this fall. Patho was what i feared would give me a lot of problems but surprisingly i'm doing great in the class. Basics is for lack of a better word basic. Do the readings and you will be fine Since you will be taking all 3 classes my advice would be not to sleep on any class. Divide your time appropriately between each classes. The teachers are extremely helpful. They really want you to succeed. ALL OF THEM. Also the students are nice too. My favorite part of this semester is clinicals. IT TOTALLY ROCKS!!!! Since i've been here, i can say that the program is organized. And very diverse. Let me know if you have any more questions.
  11. Congratulations on everyone who got accepted to the CON. I'm a semester 1 student, which means it wasn't long ago when i was in your position :-D It's nice to see/hear/read (lol) of y'alls excitement. Even after taking summer school and almost rounding out the semester my excitement level is still pretty high considering how different the program is which is a good thing. Let me know if y'all have any questions. Once again congrats. Can't wait to see ya'll.
  12. Angel 1990 First thing you need to do is take your transcript up to the school and meet with the advisor. After she evaluates it, she will tell you what all you need. If you have more than 45 credit hours complete, she'll give you a card and refer you to take the Hesi. The deadline to meet all the requirements and pass the Hesi is September 1st. When you pass the Hesi, you get the clinical application, submit that with an essay and then wait to see if you got in. So to answer your question, there is an essay but thats not required until you get the applications for the clinicals. Also since you have already taking the Hesi, i don't know how that will work. PV CON has to refer you to take the Hesi. My advice, call them and ask them if you would have to re-take it. Also ask what they require on it. They are pretty good on picking up phones. Good luck :-)
  13. Angel1990 PV just started accepting the Hesi this year so people trying to come in for Spring 11 are the first class to take it. I took the NET so i'm not really sure if your 85 is good or not but if you think you can take it and make a higher grade then go for it. As for the GPA, they require a 2.75 and i had a 3.2 and got in so you are in good shape with that. Just make sure to turn in everything on time. Good luck!!!
  14. Angel1990, You are right to an extent. Say PV is accepting 100 people, as soon as they get 100 people who turned in everything on time and who meet their requirement, those people will get acceptance letters. (Note i said 100 people who meet requirements not first 100 people to turn in applications. 200 may turn in applications and only 100 people may be eligible). Also the acceptance letter are provisional and can be revoked. Now for the rest of the people who meet their requirements but turned in their applications late, they will get wait listed or possibly rejected. So if someone who got an acceptance letter and whatever reason can not attend PV, the first person on the waiting list gets their spot. My advice, turn in everything on time and stay on top of PV. And if you stay in Houston, i would recommend you drive and hand deliver everything. Good luck. Ten0883 Congrats on passing your exam!!!! I'm also starting in the fall (well i guess summer cuz im taking a summer class there with Leeleb) but in the BSN program so i'm not sure if our paths will cross. Good luck with everything. I bet you are excited. Hey Leeleb, go study. LOL :-D.
  15. Lol me too. Do we have to have completed our shots b4 we start Summer school?
