Midwestern State University

Published

Hello,

I've been searching through the message boards and I just can't find much information on people who go/have gone to the nursing program at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. I was wondering...what was your entering GPA? What was your NET score? How did you like it? What hospitals did the school use for classes? Do you feel like you got a good education there?

Thanks so much!

Sarah

Hey MSU acceptees! Congrats! Out of curiosity, how many points did you have? I'm trying to figure out if I should move up to MSU and finish my co/prereqs in the Spring to get those extra .5 points (plus the co-req points), or if I should just sit happy at 68. Thanks in advance!

StephanieNicole: Spring 2010 cut off was 57.5, Fall 09 was 56, and Spring 09 was 55. So you can see its progressingly rising although its not a huge jump. In my opinion 68 should be great, but you had said pre/co-requisites... just wanted to make sure your not including the BSN pre-requisites(A&P, Micro, English...etc) b/c those on that list have to be completed before starting the nursing program; you can be enrolled when applying but must be complete before starting nursing. Hope that helped.

huggiebear1979: Their are apts all over the place here, A friend of ours lives in the Northpark Village Apts and they really like it. Its about a 15 min drive to MWSU but its a safe community (I live off of missile road and its only a few blocks away from my house; fire station and police station only a few blocks away also). I'm off today for Veterans day and bored so I went ahead and called for you 1bedrooms- $570-655(depending on 1st or 2nd story) and 2bed-$750-845 (and she said they're having a special with a one year lease 2bed for $655). Good luck apt hunting, I would definitely go on-line and read reviews of other people living there since your not familiar with the area. I'll try to help but we've only lived here a year so I don't know much either.

Hey newbies lol. I'm currently in the MSUs program. So if you have any questions please feel free to shoot me a PM. I will gladly answer any and all of your questions.

Hello All. I too got accepted into the program at MSU as prettyladie already knows lol. Im so excited and nervous at the same time. I will be staying on campus for maybe a yr so I can meet new people. MSU's housing is ALOT cheaper than UTA'S they will rip you off! Talk to prettyladie because she will give you all the information and cheap prices to get everything! I would also like to know about any scholarships anything would help. Im so excited to meet all of you guys in Jan!!!!

I have a 2bd 2 full bath apartment 963 sqft and I pay 351 a month. They are considered "low income" and they go off of your income and grants too; email me for details if you're looking for really nice apartments for a considerable budget. I can tell you how to get into these. The apartment location I stay in also has a "sister" location and their prices start around 430 a month. PM me with your questions about anything.

yeah im going to midwestern! :) But yeah i called them today and they said that it is a 2.5 yr program, and that you cant get ahead loll. Oh well it shouldnt be too bad. who all else is going?

dallaschick214: yeah, i dont think it should be that bad... I live in houston so i still need to find an apartment and see if there is anyone i can possibly live with. I am plannin on visiting in a few weeks to check out the place...but i think we should start a facebook group or something so we can meet everyone who is planning on goin to midwestern...

Pretty Ladie,

Are you sure about the 2 years, I spoke to the advisor about 1 week ago and she did tell me the nursing program is 5 semesters(2 and a half years) Since you are hearing something different, do you know when they plan to put the 2 years into effect?

Hey Everyone,

I'm looking at going ahead purchasing my books for the first semester...I wanted to find out if anybody knows the exact books and editions so that I can purchase them somewhere else other than midwestern, and where they can be bought at a much cheaper price, also do we need any uniform type items for the first semester, thanks in advance,Angela

My understanding is the following classes will be what we take for the first semester....

1st SemesterTitle of CourseHoursNURS 3103Introduction to Nursing

3

NURS 3203Pathophysiologic Processes3NURS 3212/3211Family Health Assessment & Clinical2/1NURS 4123 or PSYC 3313Nursing Statistics or Psych Statistics3

Hey there,

I'm applying in a little over a year, but i was wondering about the PE credit and Economics credit. I already have a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State University and I saw that someone mentioned if you already have a degree that you they waive the PE and Econ credits. Is that true? I was also wondering if anyone knew of any safe and well-kept apartments in the area. I'll be in the AFROTC program while obtaining my Nursing degree but I want to live in a area not super close to Shepperds but in a very safe area considering I'll be a young woman living alone. Any information would be super helpful! Thank you guys for your time. OH! Also, has anyone confirmed that the program is now 2 years instead of 2.5? Thanks!!
